STARTTHEFRIAR runs in a c3 1600m race this Wednesday at Ascot . A step up from his great win first up at York but a nice race to see where he is at all the same. Here is our in depth analysis of the mission at hand.

  1. Patristic; A repeat of last start when dominated a decent field from the front see’s it go close. Very hard to beat.

  2. Langley; Also likes to race on speed and is racing well in this grade. Should be in the finish.

  3. Startthefriar; His win first up at York was franked by the 2nd horse Pelican Pick bolting in at Northam Sunday. Pike has stuck with us and we will be one of the swoopers coming late.

  4. Every Mile A Memory; At it’s best would be a strong chance but hasn’t done much this prep. A soft track would help, nicely weighted with claim but not sure barrier 1 suits racing pattern.

  5. Pixated; Enigmatic horse who can pull out a good run. Gets in light after claim but tricky gate for inexperienced jockey. Minor claims.

  6. Solar Sky; Only two wins were at 1600m. A peak performance can threaten but hasn’t produced first up in the past. Rough claims.

  7. O’reily’s Crumpet; Showed promise early in career but has been outclassed in much easier recently.

  8. Bold Victory; Drawn to get nice run and not beaten far by Langley last start. Each way claims.

  9. Nevarda; Generally races in easier company however first up effort wasn’t too bad. Prefer place from bad gate.

  10. A Slippery Customer; Recent Geraldton form not too bad but this is tougher and drawn the carpark.

  11. Generous Albert; Only two wins at 1600m but they were a long time ago and has been going around at long odds without success recently.

  12. He’s Packing; Beat Tell Em Wer’e Comin in a class 3 1500m in 2017. That form would win this but form since has been ordinary and will be long odds.

  13. Perceptive Miss; Is always kept safe in the market for a horse that hasn’t done much but a peak performance would have her in the finish.

    SPEEDMAP: I have no’s 1 & 2 trying to control the race from the front with 8 & 13 next from their good draws. Our perfect scenario is settling midfield with cover , the two up front racing each other putting good speed on then peel and come with one run at them late. We certainly have the right jockey on to pull it off!
