Nine of these 2022 Graduates were sold from Book 1 , and 5 from book 2 . Average prices are considerably higher for book 1 and yet the quinella came from book 2. Fun fact they actually were lots 216 and 217 so the quinella was decided very early! Only two of the field of 14 sold for 100k and above , 55 of the 300 plus lots reached this milestone at the sales. It is way too early to write off any of the 22 Sales graduates , most haven’t even had a start yet , but it is a prime example it is a lottery once they leave the sales complex and some jag the jackpot with a slickpick and others walk away empty handed despite putting all the sytems in place.

Being a year older , we can include career earnings to date in the 3yo analysis but it is still early days. Highlighted are Saturday’s winner and last (pulled up) placegetter. Both sold in the moderate 40k range , both have already cracked the 300k barrier. Street Parade & Mia Gusto are by West Australian Westpeed Platinum sires . Win a Saturday race with one of these and your paid up for years. 7 of the 12 runners were lightly raced maidens including the 325k sale topper in Nyet . Running for a share of 200k , another prime example of the purchase price doesn’t make them run faster. Our very own Frantic War (bought for 40K) , was eligible for this race. Had he won first up by a nose rather than finished 2nd we would of most likely had a crack. On current form , with luck in running he could of easily finished anywhere up to 2nd in what was a bunched finished behind the dominant winner.

Play the game for long enough and you will pay too much for a slow one and land a bargain on a fast one. It’s just part of the great game . Once they leave the sales complex at the end of the week they all cost the same to feed and get ready for racing. Some will mature quickly and hit the track before Christmas. Most will require patience and an extra 6-12 months , occasionally longer. Each horse is different and pushing them when they aren’t ready is a Strict No No that will never reap rewards.
