Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r7 Ration Aly ; Was first up off 400 days when sensationally backed and getting the job done from well back in a midweek c3 to make it 2/3 career starts. Her other win as a 2yo was over 1400m so only issue would be 2nd up off such a long break but she clearly has the most upside in the field.

R7 Novelties 1st ; 4 7 8 2nd 3 4 7 8 3rd 3 4 7 8 4th field $18 trifecta $108 first 4.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Northam r2 Snip’n’Tuck ; Looks a race in two on paper. Warcidium comes from much stronger form races. The query with him is the 1600m first time. Only battled late over 1400m last time hence I’m going with the 3yo filly. Jumped straight to 1600m at career start two and only peaked very late for 2nd. With the added fitness should go very close.

Northam r6 Secret Statue; Dropping back in class after creating an impression on debut with a sharp turn of foot. Has got back in all it’s races and finished off, indicating it’s looking for further. That is not always the case however the 3kg claim combined with the drop in class give him every opportunity to win.

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r4 Sluice Box; Was beaten by the barrier last start. Can really rattle home and in the small field wont be far away. Also drops in weight .

Kalgoorlie r7 Staralign ; Proven at the track and distance and gets the best run out of the main chances.

Kalgoorlie Quaddie (r4-7); 7, field , 2 3 5 6 7 10 , 5 6. $120 for 100%

Best Bet Belmont r6 Aconite; Last two placings were behind the talented and flying Montelena. She would be odds on here and should get every chance from barrier 2.

Belmont r8 Money Matters; Just failed to catch a 1000m speed queen first up. Staying at 1000m is a slight query but he should settle close enough to simply outclass them.

Belmont Quaddie (r6-9); 1 6 9 , 2 3 4 5 10 , 8 , field. $210 for 100%

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Pinjarra r3 How’s the Serenity; The two races she has competed in so far rate so much higher than anything else in this race it’s not funny.

Pinjarra Early Quaddie (r1-4); 1 3 6 7 9 , 1 5 8 , 8 , field. $180 for 100%

Pinjarra r5 Ozzy Boy; Recent trial winner in quick time . This is a weak maiden so should be hard to beat on that.

Pinjarra r7 STARTTHEFRIAR (Our Own Horse, Hopeful more than confident!)

Wide open race so going to have a crack at the novelties for small percentages. Also going to have a 10/90 stake on Starthefriar providing he is paying $20 or above.

Boxed Trifecta / First 4. ; 1 2 6 7 9 ; Boxing 5 horses costs $60 for trifecta and $120 for first 4. (100%) STARTHEFRIAR is the one that can spice up the dividends. Flexi betting allows us to spend less for a smaller percentage of the dividend .

Wider Trifecta / First 4 1st ; 1 7 9 ; 2nd 1 7 9 , 3rd 1 2 5 6 7 9 10 , 4th 1 2 5 6 7 9 10 12. Only having my 3 top rated runners for first and 2nd allows us to add most of the other top 4 chances . This version costs $30 for trifecta and $150 for first 4 (100%)

Good luck if you decide to follow and GO STARTHEFRIAR !

Wednesday Winners

Best Value Belmont r4 Bon Odyssey; Terrific win at only start 3 when sitting outside a tearaway leader, putting that runner to bed at the top of the straight and holding the chasing pack at bay easily. That was a weak maiden so granted she steps up in class but if she can cross over from the gate relatively easy then should take some catching. $7 each way on a typical tough winter midweek program is my only play of the day.

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r5 Manhattan Money ; Has won 3 from her last 4. Cloak & Dagger offers stiffer opposition however is drawn 10 and likely to settle next to last whereas she has drawn 1 and will just need a gap at the top of the straight. She also drops in weight for her rise in class.

Kalgoorlie Quaddie (r4-7); 2 3 6 8 9 10 11 , 9 , field , 1. $63 for 100%

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r7 Free Trade; Went to a new level at the end of last campaign. Trials have indicated he hasn’t gone backwards. He should get a soft lead in a race full of backmarkers which is unusual for a feature 1200m sprint. Not a perfect first up record however it has been reported he is only having the one run before being freshened for some big spring assignments so expect him to beat these.

Best Value Belmont r8 Flower of Scotland; Bounced back into her terrific form at this track and distance last start , demolishing an easier midweeker to make it 4/5 this prep. Her one miss was over 1400m when she was pushed wide off the track . Clearly this is a much tougher assignment but $16/4.25 for a mare in this kind of form looks juicy enough for me.

Best Bet Belmont r5 Excellent Dream ; Has proven to be too fast and tough over this track and distance on wet tracks at both starts this prep. Exact same condtions today. $2 is rock bottom but on a tough day the best bet on the card.

r5 Novelties 1st 1 2nd 6 7 9 3rd 6 7 9 4th field

Best Value Belmont r7 Great Heist; Won very impressively over 1200m on a soft 6 first up. Ran on well 2nd up in a race that was run on a Wednesday but was easily Saturday quality. Looks suited at 1400m 3rd up. 60kg a test but $7.50 each way looks overs.

Belmont Quaddie (r4-7); 5 , 1 , 2 3 4 5 7 8 9 10 12 , 1 3 11. $27 for 100%

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r6 Cuban Twist; 3/3 at the track and maps to get another soft run on speed . Sluice Box the clear danger but in contrast has to do plenty of work from the outside gate.

Best Value Kalgoorlie r7 On The Turps; Usually races like it’s on the turps. Missing the start , racing fiercely and finding trouble all very common in it’s stewards reports from previous runs. Last start was given every chance and put them away. The odds might be against him getting the perfect run twice in a row but at $7 each way he is worth the risk.

Kalgoorlie Quaddie (r4-7); field , 1 2 3 5 8 , 5, 7 9. $100 for 100%

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r8 Tiff Has Spoken; Has raced super competitively in strong 3yo company, alongside and in front of numerous winners. Maps to get every chance just behind the speed and this looks easier than recent assignments.

Belmont r2 Pletto; Yet to miss a place in 7 starts. Was backed off the map last start and despite things not going perfectly she still brained them. The only negative would be a strong rail bias from her wide draw otherwise looks too classy.

Belmont r6 Nerodio ; From the better barrier today should settle around 3 back the fence and from their his explosive turn of foot sees him hard to hold out. The reason for 4 weeks between runs the query , market moves will be a telling factor.

Belmont r7 We’ve Got Dreams; Yuill has a history of rating this horse out in front to perfection. The fav looks vulnerable at 1000m.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Pinjarra r1 Just Under; Beat most of these last start, storming home from the back and just missing a heavily backed all the way winner who was also favourite. The extra 100m suits .

Pinjarra r8 Arties Jewel; 1 win in 24 hardly instills confidence but is going very well. Always looms as the winner but struggles to find the line. Gets another go here. Safety Bay is a good saver.

Best Bet Belmont r8 Weaponson; 2nds to Elite St and Excellent Dream at this track and distance is good enough form to go one better here.

Best Value; Belmont r2 Miss Voodoo; Stable rate this filly very highly and her trials indicate above average ability. 1300m on debut won’t be easy but worth a bet at $7 each way and put her in your blackbook for the future.

Belmont r5 Ohbeeh ; Excels as a front runner and jockey is renowned for rating them out front. Get’s every opportunity to repeat 1st up all the way win.

Belmont Quaddie ; (r5-8); 1, 3 7 8 , field, 4 $30 for 100%

Monday Money Makers

Best Bet Darwin r12 Ihtsahymn; WA warrior looking to go back to back in the cup for cups king Peter Hall. You wont see a better cup trial than it’s first up run over the 1600m when it worked home into 2nd beautifully . From barrier two it should get a world perfect run, doing no work tracking the speed and going bang at the top of the straight. 10 year old marvel who is a group 1 winner that’s career was reinvigorated when his love for dirt tracks was discovered . The whole of WA will be cheering him on!

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r9 Bombay Style; Ran down Aberdeen Queen this track and distance last start and is now 2/2 track and distance. From barrier 1 it sits on the leaders back and I believe this is weaker. $5.50 is a great each way bet.

Belmont r3 Marrochino; Ran 2nd and 3rd in the Belmont 3yo staying features in recent weeks. A strong winner on Wednesday finished a fair margin further back in one of them. Fav Burning Pride looks the only danger. She however has had 2 tries at the 2100m for duck eggs. Banking on the early season 4yo to run out the last 100m stronger.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Northam r4 Uncanny Timing; Last campaign bumped into Long Beach and Son of a God in maidens , finishing 3rd on both occasions. Both those horses are now multiple Saturday grade winners. Solid trial win in preparation for this and no Saturday class horses to beat . Universal Pleasure the main danger. Needs to develop a knockout punch but is getting closer each start. Good Quinella.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Belmont r4 Elite Street; This is a great race with plenty of chances. Gate 1 has been worth it’s weight in gold at Belmont in recent times, hence the confidence in making it my best. Tracks Stella Door (bar plates on ) and goes bang at top of straight. Puli is absolutely flying but has had every possible chance from soft draws last two and draws wide. Great Heist won impressively first up but is likely to get back and run on which has been very hard to do at Belmont recently.

Belmont r2 Empire Reign; Stuck to it’s task , running 2nd behind an all the way winner on debut. It was still coming late so with the extra 100m and natural improvement it can go one better.

Belmont r8 Expressionist; Will be popular due to Pike in the last cult followers but has the form to justify the short qoute. Trusting Pike to have it close enough to the leaders if conditions suit leaders as expected. Looks the only horse with considerable upside in the field.

Belmont Quaddie (r5-8) ; 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 10 11 , 1 3 4 12 13 , 3 5 , 9 . $100 for 100%

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r8 Hayan Lad ; Has won then ran 2nd here last 4 starts in similar grade of races. Beaten a lip by today’s rival Watto’s Fury . Draws 4 vs 14 and 2kgs. $6 each way good bet, very confident it at least places.

Best Value Kalgoorlie r4 Romasko; Very fast early , winning her maiden here easily by jumping and running them along. This is much harder but it’s a good track to lead on and she should find the front again and give them something to catch at $10 each way. Has ran behind our very own Angelique’s Fame who would towel these up.

Kalgoorlie r5 Amiilionite; Doesn’t win out of turn but races well here, winning in the same grade last start, albeit with Pike on and narrowly. Loses nothing with Yuill on and will handle the rise in trip. It’s a question of value , current $3.20 about right.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r7 Red Can Man ; One of the best 3yo’s of the season , especially over the sprint trips. Maps to get unbelievably good run on pace either leading or sitting on their hammer which in recent times has been the place to be. Huge respect to a fresh Cup Night who will be steaming home from next to last but tipping that will be a big ask against a horse of Red Can’s ability.

Belmont r9 Double The Pro; Unlike our best bet , this one settles back and rockets home. Has shown a real liking for Belmont recently and if the track plays fair enough for his racing style is bound to be in the finish. The fav Position of Power is flying but took Harvey throwing the kitchen sink at him after getting a gun run to score last start. Not sure he is an apprentice horse at this stage , can do things wrong at the start. Gobsmacked it opened 16’s , $7.50 each away about right.
