Ascot r3 Vane Tempest ; Took a sit last start and it worked a treat , she settled and sprinted brilliantly at the finish. After scratchings Mcnaught has options. The 2nd to Kissonallforcheeks is brilliant form for this. Only has to settle to get 1200m. The current $1.95 on offer is the only thing stopping me declare it as the best bet.

Ascot r4 Hell’s Belles; Dropping from a .75 length 3rd in a Saturday 62+ to a c1 . Just needs to slot in from tricky draw to go close.

Best Bet Ascot r8 Tinsnip ; Has only won the 1 race but that was the sires produce at this track and distance hence has almost 250k in the bank. There is a stack of speed in this and I can see him getting the right run to finish over the top. Each Way

Best Bet Bunbury r3 Vadette De Star ; Debuted in Saturday grade , was plunged and didn’t let supporters down with an easy win . Bookies haven’t forgotten, $2.30 is short enough in a slightly harder race but should be very hard to beat.

Flemington r8 Fifty Stars ; Won this race last year , ran 2nd in the group 1 Mackinnon behind Arcadia Queen which is also this track and distance and ran a close 2nd last week over 1600m in the Blamey 2nd up. Conditions suit.

Randwick r8 Bivouack; Is the class sprinter of the field most suited by the wfa conditions. 1000m was too short first up and 2nd up record is superior.

Best Bet Ascot r7 Solaia ; Last start she beat Kissonallforcheeks comfortably at listed level.Start before split Cryptic Love ( then won Pinjarra Classic) and Last of the Line (Then won Detonator Stakes) All the Peters horses are coming from weak c1’s and maidens. Chiclett has ability but 2nd up coming from midweeks. Maps to get a picnic in front or take a sit on something ridden against its usual pattern.

Best Value Ascot r6 Interstate; Is racing well and based on last start 3rd this track and distance , $23/4.50 looks generous. Beat home Eurasia who is $4.60. 20/80 % split of stake.

Flemington r5 Fabergino ; Last start’s brilliant 4th in the group 1 Lightning Stakes this track and distance when coming solo down the outside just has to be the right form. She absolutely flies this track and distance on good going. If Jordan Childs was fit to ride her I would put the house on. She will lead for a very long way. Her races are usually spaced , the only possible negative . If she’s 100% on top of her game she wins.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Bunbury r6 Axel ‘R’ Eight ; Midweek stayers , most are going to struggle to get to a higher level with our tip and Marrochino perhaps being the exception. Has won 2/3 this distance , the latest by running them into the ground. Drawn wide outside another free running type in Corporate Larrikan could go both ways. I’m hoping Pateman sits off him and when the roughie starts feeling the pinch , go for home and pinch a break on rivals. Otherwise if he manages to cross he can ramp it up further out. Either way he is fit enough to turn it into a real test of stamina whereas the equal favourite is rising from the 1600m.

Bunbury r4 Baybizarre ; Has run two good placings to kick off career , greenness costing it victory at latest. With natural improvement really should be the one to beat. The only time these Peter’s false favourites seem to win is when you pot them so respect Powerful Force . Chris Parnham has been riding them more positively ( 2 won on Wednesday being put into the race earlier than Pike would generally do.) The race is pretty thin behind those two.

Best Bet Ascot r4 Rosso Tempesta; Was kept honest in front last start by a Peters short priced favourite. Fought it off only to be grabbed late by the fav’s stablemate. On first look at this field he jumps from a c1 to a c3 and only drops 0.5kgs despite being the only c1 in the field. Not ideal conditions but he is big and strong enough to carry the weight. Hopefully he gets it easy out in front and fights them off. Each Way all day. Born to Try has much stronger form lines but untried at 1600m.

Best Bet Pinjarra r5 Holy Enchantment ; Hit the line hard in the 3yo MM’s first up over the unsuitable 1200m. That has to be the right form for this. 1500m much more suitable and 2nd up record superior to first up.

Pinjarra r6 Outback Jack ; Pretty much copy and paste the same comments from the best bet above. Same trainer who would be stoked he could split them up under the same conditions. Both are likely heading to the derby . Trainer has the hot favourite in race 4 , could be a huge couple of hours.

Pinjarra r8 Samizdat ; Was an expensive yearling who has had huge wraps on him from day 1 . While he hasn’t dominated he has still won 6/14 and over 400k. Providing track is fair / you can swoop then he is the one to beat on his current form in top company.

The big chances according to the market are all get back and run on types. Hoping Heffel can get over from the wide draw and get a decent head start on the chasing pack. Best Bet Ascot r8 Kissonallforcheeks ; Thought she was vulnerable from the wide draw first up however her class shone through. Put the race to bed very quickly. Again drawn poorly in a deeper race , I still think she has the class to round them up in the small field.

Best Value Ascot r9 Guns Of Navarone ; Dropping from a midfield finish at listed level to a 66+. Getting 3kg off for Laqdar Ramoly almost feels like cheating so well is he riding at the moment. Looks amazing each way value at the moment.

Ascot r5 Big Bada Boom ; Has won 4/6 , all in the great southern region. His trainer is on fire all over WA and the ease of his victories suggest he can handle the rise to Metro Saturday racing.

Today’s theme is trying to find value by taking on the lethal Cerise N White horses with Pike in the saddle. The theory is they start way under the odds , especially at provincial meetings . Yesterday was a prime example , with our Good Thing getting too far back and failing to bridge the gap and our Best Bet ridden upside down to put pressure on our Value bet , only for both to get run down by the stablemate ! Now we are taking them on Murphy’s law says they win everything today. Maybe have a multi on them in case lol.

Bunbury r5 Agent Kensington ; Last two 2nds were behind better horses than it meets here. Banking on 1100m being too short for Real Charisma .

Best Value Bunbury r7 Oceanzara ; Two recent 2nd’s behind our champ Prize Pursuit and yesterday’s value play Rosso Tempesta . Prize would flog these and Rosso ran a close up 2nd in a better race yesterday. Can’t possibly suggest the favourite Antique Jewel is a $1.50 chance. Has had 3 runs in maidens, all as a short priced favourite . At $13 / $3.10 we will play safe and go 10/90 % split of stake.

Good Thing Bunbury r8 Tambora ; If it reproduces it’s ratings from first two runs it bolts in. Prized Miss had every possible in a field of 5 on debut then did nothing 2nd up.

Best Bet Bunbury r9 Castillo Del Lago ; Ran very well first up, running 2nd with a big gap to 3rd. There is already winning form from the well beaten brigade. Should cross over from wide gate and keep running. Testing Love has the right form however first up is the best time to take these Peter’s horses on.

Best Bet Ascot r5 Spritely Star; Ran 2nd on debut to a speed machine over 1200m who has since run 2nd in Saturday grade. Then got the job done at prohibitive odds over 1413m . Only got going late and she looks to be crying out for the 1600m and further. 100% wins.

Best Value Ascot r5 Rosso Tempesta; Trying something a bit different today by tipping two horses in the same race. This fellow bolted in from the front in his maiden with today’s hoop Paul Harvey in the saddle. Last start was stronger than this race and he battled along ok after doing early work . If he can lead he might be hard to catch. 5 % win 95% Place.

“Good Thing” Ascot r1 Secret Plan ; It’s debut win over 1000m on a soft 6 was breathtaking, swooping past them from near last . Did the same thing in a trial leading into this first up assignment. Tipster’s nightmare tipping losing odds on favs as good things but the current $1.85 looks juicy.

Mad Roughie Ascot r8 Tovarich ; Took 20 starts to win his maiden and now has two wins from 22 starts, both at this track and distance , both at big odds. Has good early pace and apprentice Carleen Heffel is a good front running jockey who has been riding winners galore lately.

Best Bet Geraldton r7 Mycroft; Started a heavily backed favourite in the Batavia sprint and was only beaten a length , finding the 1200m a touch short at that level. Back into a 70+ over 1400 suits and he is hardest to beat. Proven weight carrier but 61kgs does give lesser class runners a chance . He’s All Mighty seems to grow a leg at Geraldton and Quality Fair has finished close up with Mycroft in the past.

Went straight to 1200m and a Saturday race where she put paid to the other favourite in the race at the top of the straight , She only fell in but has trialed in brilliant fashion since and from barrier 3 will control the tempo.

Best Value Pinjarra r4 Rum Raker; Last start win this track was very soft and 1400m suits even better. Should get a lovely run and $13 each way looks great value.

Ascot r3 Vane Tempest ; Speed filly who can really fire up before and during her races. If she jumps cleanly and Pike can control her out in front then she could take some serious catching. Back 100m helps and she is each way odds. Suggest saving on In The Boat. Would of tipped on top if drawn inside the filly.

Ascot r4 Last of the Line; Should justify the odds on quote from the perfect barrier. Best Bet confidence wise just a matter of how short a price your willing to take.

Best Value Ascot r5 Beat The Bell ; Quirky mare who usually misses the start and gets too far back . Dumped the rider pre race , got a mile back , rocketed home into 4th beaten under a length this track and distance last start. 6 starts at 1600m for no return , 11 at ascot for 1 win 2 placings is the reason we are getting $14 each way. It’s a big gamble but this is very weak for a Saturday and if she is anywhere near them on the corner then she can finish over the top of them.

Ascot r8 Time to Sizzle; Another speed horse who will burn to the front and try and hang on late. We will be nervous but think it can cling on. Nobelium will be one of the chasers at good each way odds, could back both.

Logically she should improve off the run and young stayers with upside can usually handle the rise in class . Best Bet Bunbury r8 Fa’lion Mascine ; Won in Sat graduation grade last prep and first up this time in ran 3rd in same grade. Stats say she improves considerably 2nd up. Tradensia will be very hard to catch , pressure’s on for young stable apprentice. $6.50 / $2.20 each way looks outstanding value.

Bunbury r3 Paddy’s Art ; Just run down on debut by a race fit horse that has his fair share of ability in What About Moi. Money has come hard for Seven Kingdoms off the back of a impressive trial win. That was 4 weeks ago and I’m willing to take the better odds .

Bunbury r5 Betoken ; Has turned her form around running 2nd last two starts in races with very strong form references for this. Should lead and take serious catching .

Bunbury r7 Fiery Bay ; Has race fitness edge on the other key chances who are first up over 1400m.

Best Bet Geraldton r2 Abbou ; First up stuck on well behind the champ Prize Pursuit , despite sitting deep the trip without cover. Perhaps that effort took it’s toll 2nd up as raced a bit flat. If the addition of blinkers achieves even a slight improvement then he should be very hard to beat here. Stablemate Stella fair ran 2nd to Prize Pursuit’s 1/2 sister All in Red first up , that mare has her share of the families ability. 2nd up featured heavily in the stewards report. Clear danger , you have to weigh up the benefit of the featherweight vs the very inexperienced jockey. The quinella as a saver could be an option.

Geraldton r7 All in Red ; As mentioned above , Prize Pursuit’s promising 1/2 sister who bolted in her maiden, then was a good thing beaten when getting further back than expected , ducking in 1/2 way up the straight then charging at the line only to miss by a bob of the head. This is harder again with Ziera looking very hard to beat but we have to go again . Senior rider goes on.

Best Value Geraldton r9 River Dance ; 7 starts at the track for 5 wins and 2 seconds. 2/2 at this distance. Read through his most recent form and see names such as Inspirational Girl, Laverod and Celebrity Girl. Not bad for this! No idea how he is going and note concussion plates go on. Anywhere near his best and he gives this a real shake at $9.

Geraldton r10 So Sway ; This camp place their horses to perfection at Geraldton. Won well first up at Pinjarra then had a tough run from a wide gate in a hot form race. Looks very hard to beat.
