Best Bet Northam r9 Abloh ; Absolutely airborne at present with a barnstorming victory in the Provincial Championship at Belmont last start. If he can repeat that finishing burst over 1600m then he is clearly the one to beat. Who knows what sort of surface we will be dealing with come r9 , he has a great soft track record so should get through it. Surveillance has a remarkable track & distance record (4/5) considering he has won 5 career races. 2nd up record reads much better than first up and no doubt this race was penciled in months ago. Definitely include at big odds.

Best Bet Belmont r2 Duchess of Gossip ; Got close to Falcon Trader over 1200m , big gap to 3rd , then beat up on maiden battlers over 1300m. Falcon Trader has franked the form since. Considering one of the main dangers China Spirit is now scratched and it’s still around the same odds as Wednesday , it now looks the best bet of the day.

Belmont r7 Bitofmerit ; 4/4 first up , all over the 1000m. He has soundness issues which is why his campaigns don’t last long but his trial indicates he’s ready to go. They will absolutely fly in this which will make holding out a horse with his turn of foot out very difficult. providing he can hold a position midfield early. $2.60 (in from $3) is getting skinny but he’s always had a boom on him.

Belmont r9 Man Crush ; Has bounced back into top form last two . When he found the top last start he didn’t look like being beaten. Noted front riding jockey Holly Watson retains the ride and if she can cross from out wide he will be awfully hard to beat. Puli might make the first part difficult.

Best Value Belmont r 10 Bonjoy ; Only won a c3 first up but did it with arrogance from near last . This is wide open and she has a lethal turn of foot . Has already firmed into $6 but at least it’s still each way.

Wednesday Winners

Best Value Belmont r3 Kelvinator; Has been racing consistently in Saturday grade and the one time he came back to the midweeks he was far too good. Michael Poy has hit the ground running in WA and if he finds his preferred position in front he should take running down. There are a few in this that will be chasing him down late so it’s handy that he is each way odds.

Best Bet Belmont r4 Falcon Trader ; Undefeated this time in , leading and running them into the ground over 1200m on both occasions. He actually drops in weight after the claim and I see no reason why he wont rinse and repeat for the hattrick.

Belmont r8 Duchess of Gossip ; Got close to Falcon Trader over 1200m , big gap to 3rd , then beat up on maiden battlers over 1300m. $2.40 is short enough as this is a fair deal tougher but Falcon Trader has already franked the form and if he wins again as expected she could firm again.

Best Value Sandown r3 Frigid ; Peter’s Investments mare who won 3/5 in WA before heading East . Both her runs in Victoria have been well spaced and she has finished off nicely in both without threatening . 2/2 2nd up and loves a wet track , she looks ready to run a race at $10 each way.

Belmont r4 Sessions Peak ; Both Ginger Baker & Knot Secret beat him home in a very similar race last time however he had to come from last in a very slowly run race after drawing poorly. Meets them both better at the weights and draws the fence so hopefully settles much closer and turns the tables at better odds.

Best Bet Belmont r8 The Velvet Queen ; Looks a rematch with Bustler from the 1400m Belmont Sprint and I’m hoping Chris Parnham can tactically use barrier 2 vs 1 to his advantage over his brother Stephen and turn the tables over 1600m. Both will need to get out at some stage but both are capable of sprinting hard off any tempo .

Belmont r1 Antique Miss ; The further in trip this filly gets out to , the better she goes . In a field of 6 Pike can sit back and put her into in at the top of the straight without being too far back. Opened around $1.70 , now $1.90 , we really should be getting $2 minimum considering Manavendra has better form and both he and Warralea Diamond are proven on soft. In summary she is a risk at the odds but specking she has the most upside at this distance and further.

Best Bet Belmont r5 Red Rebel ; Placed at his last 3 starts and strikes a very weak maiden . Drawn to get every chance , yet to see a wet track so that is the query.

Best Value Belmont r5 Vane Tempest ; Has won 3/5 first up plus a 2nd and trialed really nicely alongside the very smart The Velvet Queen to indicate she is ready to fire. $8.50 looks good each way value.

Best Bet Belmont r6 Devine Belief ; Her two wins have been dominant , albeit against weaker opposition. If she can get across to outside the speed without burning too much petrol than I expect her to be too explosive for those behind her to run her down.

Belmont r9 No Dice ; Ran a close up 3rd at her first attempt at 1400m in slightly higher grade than this. If she can get some cover from the awkward gate and a tow into the race then I expect her to be very hard to hold out. If Ex Sport Girl runs out 1400m she’ll take catching and must be respected. Debonaire is coming from a Northam maiden win. Can’t have it as favourite , seeing as it’s #Pikeinthelast it might even shorten but you only live once so I’m leaving it out of everything.

Best Bet Belmont r5 Uncle Gerard ; He’s run 5 2nds in 10 starts and you could make a strong argument that waywardness has cost him victory on a few of those occasions. This is no harder , in fact looks easier on paper than last two runs (2nd) . Blinkers first time has convinced me to take the punt that he can break through.

Belmont r7 Frantic War ; Not a tip just some late mail on our own runner. He continues to work really well in what has been a long prep yielding a win and several places , only missing the top 3 once when desperately unlucky. Ready to have another go at 1200m and is drawn to get the cover he needs just behind the leaders. It’s a raffle of a race with the two favourites drawn awkwardly. One thing you can count on is he will try his hardest so at $13 each way he might be worth a little nibble.

Best Value Belmont r9 Rock on Molly ; Took 13 starts to break through but was rarely beaten far , often without luck previously. Horses can gain confidence when breaking through and she is at juicy each way odds. Convinced Life of Brian is a Saturday horse in the making and will definitely be having a win bet on him also. He is very green and a handful to ride at the moment moment but if he does everything right he will take no end of beating.

Its nothing unusual but the Wizard William Pike has a ridiculously strong book at tomorrow’s Belmont Park meeting, He currently rides the fav in 6/9 and the other 3 are hard in the market. Picking the right ones to tip/back is always a challenge but I’ve settled on 3 of them and will be having a system 2/3 which covers the 3 doubles and 1 treble. The other annoying factor on these days is the Pike Tax factored into the price. I can’t find any value outside of these selections so we will just have to cop it. Anywhere that offers TOP FLUC would be the safest option.

Best Bet Belmont r4 First Encounter ; Was eye catching from the back on debut over 1200m in maiden grade. Again motored late when winning his maiden over 1400m next start , albeit narrowly. He is very regally bred and 1600m should suit even better. Jumping straight to 60+ graduation company , on first glance $2.10 looks ludicrously short. Pike Tax , Cerise N White hype and potential carnival horse , it will just have to suffice.

Belmont r6 Mack Mack ; Dropping 5kgs and maps to get a great run at his pet distance. All his form is on good tracks so a weather watch might be required considering the short odds.

Belmont R9 Rockanori ; 1200m first up at Belmont looks an ideal recipe for a win. He is an exciting prospect when he’s right and his trial indicates he’s ready. He’s already been heavily supported and carrying #Pikeinthelast, I doubt we get much more than $2.80 . Wouldn’t want it too wet at the price again.

Best Bet Northam r4 Super Romani ; Is pretty green but has showed ability without much luck at both starts to date. Gets out to a mile and draws for a great run . The favourite I Love Your Smile is 8 weeks between runs which is an ask , especially over 1600m. Really think they should be the other way round in betting.

Northam r5 Riding Hood Fame (Place) ; 7yo mare who has only won 1 race from 67 starts but has had 20 starts this track & distance for that win and a further 8 placings. The mile is her sweet spot and she’s certain to run her usual honest race , hopefully into the placings again . Will go 2 by 98 % split just in case she cracks it for that elusive win number 2.

Kalgoorlie Quaddie (r4-7) ; FD/(4.)​7/1/1.​2.​3.​4.​5.​6.​8.​9.​10.​11 . $120 for 100% ($40 for 33% n4 2nd leg)

PRINCESS CHUNK (r5) and PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC (r6) are the two horses I like on the program. Apprentice Brayden Gaerth rides both for Kal’s biggest stable . He rides plenty of winners , especially at these country meetings but I’m having a break of tipping/ backing short priced favourites relying on speed maps to be executed. Yesterdays tip was a fine example with what looked a solid bet running last , still looking for a run as I type. At least with quaddies you are a chance of a big return vs doubling your money backing a favourite to win. Princess Chunk has to get across from a sticky gate to warrant the price and stablemate Just Got Paid has barrier 1 and CJP. Playthatfunkymusic showed ability in the metro/provincial area but did too much wrong. Has handled Kal Racing much better and on paper should get every chance to win again. If only it always worked out like that! He is the Best Bet if your wanting a win bet selection.

Best Bet Ascot r3 Cosmopolitan Girl ; The Plan ; Straight to the front with not much pressure to do so and that scenario over 1100m with an Easterly blowing sees her very hard to beat. To Rise Again loves running a place over 1000m. Hoping they take a sit from barrier 1 to give him every chance to run out the extra 100m , more importantly for us , enabling Cosmo to find the front without burning fuel. Harmika was a good run first up , she’s short enough considering the map disadvantage.

You know what your going to get , sit midfield and come with a honest run down the straight. The 3 kg claim gives him a great opportunity at $6 each way.

Best Bet Ascot r1 Leica Jaguar ; Has gone back to back in very similar races after a long run of outs. Should settle just behind the speed and get past the leaders for a third win .

Best Value Ascot r3 Kelvinator ; Beat up on the older horses this track and distance in a moderate c1 by holding the lead and racing away. . While this is harder back to 3yo company , it’s a very even race and I expect Dyson to again boot through from barrier 1. A couple might have a look but doubt they press the issue if he makes his intentions clear. From there he will be hard to run down on an each way basis.

Tuesday Tips

Ascot r1 Snippenova ; The last time she led she fought off all but the smart Street Parade. Has worked too hard in two runs since. She is very quick early so drawn 1 I can’t see anything crossing her if Paul Harvey desires. If it turns into a tactical affair then being on the leader is a good advantage , especially over 1000m. The favourite was impressive on debut when finding the outside fence down the Pinjarra straight 1000m. This is a different set up so willing to risk at odds on with the apprentice on . None of the 5 would actually shock .

Ascot r2 Outfield ; Has gone close at his two starts , both down the Pinjarra Straight 1000m. Gets barrier one around a bend here where he can lead or box seat. The favourite Military Power has slightly stronger form lines but will have to work across from the outside barrier.

Best Bet Ascot 8 Wicked Fox ; Has been given every possible last two starts , winning a c1 and getting bobbed last start when the winner got an even peachier ride. Both runs have been at this track & distance and he maps to get another great run. He lacks a killer punch so the fact he is close enough to each way odds is important as a best bet. I suggest 40/60 % split.

Best Bet Albany r1 Authoritive ; This maiden is almost identical to a 1100m maiden two weeks ago. 2nd favourite Looks set the pace , kicked and was run down late by a 30 start maiden. Authoritive was on debut and charged into 3rd from the back , beaten less than a length. Backing the extra 130m , addition of winkers and natural improvement to reverse the result. Coming wide from last at Albany is not easy to do , add the swap from senior to apprentice and it’s not a foregone conclusion. Medium size stake for mine.

Best Bet Ascot r1 Rusty Dreams ; Always thought she was a very nice filly , just felt she was a little under the odds last two wins but she made a mockery of that by not only handling the step up in class both times but winning with something in hand. Other winners have come from both races . Can’t see 1600m being a disadvantage , barrrier 1 see’s her kick through and lead or box seat without doing any work and she should remain undefeated.

Ascot R8 Kings Sicario ; Came from the clouds first up and won pulling away from them in a 1200m maiden .Then ran on well into 3rd behind Rusty Dreams over 1400m so logically if she is as good as we think she is then he should be hard to beat in graduation company over 1600m.

Best Bet Ascot r4 Kelvinater ; If he can finish within a couple of lengths of quality Saturday horses such as Rusty Dreams and Leniency then logically he should take some beating back to this level. Expecting him to boot through and lead from the inside. Trusting an apprentice to judge the pace and rate them is not my ideal punting strategy but at $4.80 I’m willing to take the chance.

Best Value Ascot r5 Exporose ; Simply went too hard down the Pinjarra straight 1000m and was overrun as a drifting favourite. Stepped up to 1200m and was way too speedy. Controls this small field from the front again and can go on with it at a price.
