Best Bet Bunbury r5 Nero King ; Has been finishing his races off solidly , hopefully can settle a little closer from the middle gate and run over the top .

Best Bet Ascot r4 One Punch : Only unplaced run in 3 career starts was a genuine forgive with excuses. Won softly on debut albeit at Narrogin and just missed this class , track & distance last time. $7.50 each way in a field of 8 looks a good bet.

Best Value Ascot r6 Oceanzara ; Honest mare in career best form drawn to get the right run. Was right in it last start before fading very late so the drop back to 1400m should assist. Backing it on a heavy place basis.

Best Bet Ascot r2 Angel’s Impact ; Racing experience vs unraced in 2yo racing will always get my vote and this gelding is yet to miss top 3 in 3 starts in good company.

Best Value Flemington r8 Zipaway ; Nothing wrong with his first up run over 1400 , especially the last bit. WA Guineas winner over the mile and group 1 placed over 1800m , I’m banking on him running out a stronger mile than most of his more fancied rivals. Couple of real smart ones in it as you’d expect but at 20s I’m willing to go each way heavy place.

Best Bet Pinjarra r7 Albright ; The first up run was a cracker and the winner who she just failed to catch won again yesterday in a decent 3yo race. She will have to come from near last due to the barrier , like her stablemate Bonjoy yesterday. By race 7 if they are all winning from the front then this tip goes in the bin , if making ground is ok then we bet with confidence.r

Pinjarra r8 Silverback Jack ; Hammered in betting in a weak c1 over 1800m and punters were rewarded then back to 1675m when no match for flying stablemate Bonjoy but still hit the line nicely. First try at a stayers trip with 60kg’s but definitely looks ready for it. Hopefully caps a huge weekend for Jason Miller .

Ascot r4 Cheeky Charlotte ; Has speed to burn and from barrier 1 this filly will be in front for a long way. 5 / 6 legitimate dangers in a great betting race , she’s a heavy place each way bet thinking she can at least fight most of them off.

Best Bet Ascot r7 Bonjoy ; Always shown above average ability and is really hit her straps this time in. Barrier 10/10 at Ascot is never easy but she’s a get back horse and will come with a booming finish providing there is no pattern against it on the day.

Best Value Ascot r9 Kelvinator ; Can roll along in front on his day and has been competitive in stronger races. Might prefer soft tracks and 1400m first up with 60kgs not easy but finishing alongside Group 1 Winner Dom To Shoot at the trials indicates he’s going well enough to have a nibble at double figure odds.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Pinjarra r4 Petula ; Ran down Stormchaser in the 3yo Bunbury Classic last start. You could make a strong case that this is considerably easier back to her own sex and she is 1/1 at the distance.

Pinjarra r8 Golden Vale ; You could of excused her for getting run over first up on a day front runners weren’t suited but she kicked strongly to score impressively after doing the work outside the leader. Drawn a bit sticky but she is very versatile .

Best Value Pinjarra r9 Oceanzara ; One of those horses that has been competitive in strong races but struggled to breakthrough wherever she went. 3rd up this campaign she sat outside the leader in a f&m c3 and returned to the winners stall and then went back to back with a swooping run in a c5. If she can bring her Bunbury form to Pinjarra then $15 looks decent enough each way in a very open race.

Best Bet Pinjarra r2 My Hidden Universe ; Maps to find the front here and will give a big kick on a track that usually favors leaders.

Best Value Bunbury r7 Prize Pursuit ; Last prep was a disaster from trials to eventually pulling the pin , he simply didn’t show up . This time in we couldn’t be happier with him behind the scenes. Draws perfectly in the middle where he has options depending on how the track plays. In a very even field his best is well and truly up to this and $9.50 is a great each way price.

Belmont r1 Call of Duty ; While this could turn out considerably stronger than the Bunbury maiden field he put away , It’s the manner in how he did it that has me tipping a repeat. The longer Belmont straight and 1300m looks ideal 2nd up.

Best Bet Belmont r2 Angel Undercover ; Only beaten 3.5 by the very smart Oscar’s Fortune on debut , resumed with a win and 3rd in two 3yo Plates and now finds herself in a F&M C1 . Belmont should suit her get back sprinting home style , only has to run out 1200m to cover these .

Wednesday Winners

Ascot r1 Simply Rosso ; Made the most of a world perfect run last start and won well . Chris Parnham is making hay while Pike is out injured and he’s drawn to get the perfect trail again with what looks like a frantic tempo.

Best Value Ascot r7 Pecos ; Four starts ago he started 100-1 in a Bunbury maiden. Three runs in Albany since resulted in a 3rd and two dominant wins where he was never going to lose. Obviously the move back to Ascot is the test however there is some ok form out of those Albany races and this is very even with no standouts. At $11 I’m willing to play each way.

Sunday Prayers

Best Value Mt Barker r4 Frantic War ; Forget last start , offf a setback and apprentice ridden , nothing went right. The winner of that race won a 3yo SWP yesterday and his previous form and work leading in suggests he is capable of being right in the finish of a country c2 .

Ascot r2 All Play ; First crack at 1200m but I think it will suit. From barrier 1 with Harvey on expect it to be hitting the line hard.Camera Action is a black booker of mine. Won a trial we ran 2nd in with yesterday’s champ Magnasonic. (admittedly we could of won it easily) , then did everything wrong on debut. Was enormous 2nd up in a Pinjarra maiden , caught wide but still hitting the line hard behind a promising 3yo at 100s. Don’t think Ascot suits , especially from out wide , up in class at this stage of his career but he might be able to add some spice to the novelties.

Best Bet Ascot r5 Autumn Rebel ; Only beaten 3.5 lengths in the WA Guineas then put together 2 solid midweek wins. Providing they can make ground today he looks to have far too much upside for this lot on the minimum.

Ascot r8 Man Crush ; Put simply if he jumps to the front and controls it he is more like an even money chance and I expect him to do so. If he fluffs it at the start then he’s no chance.

Bunbury Best Bets

Bunbury r1 Magnasonic ; With the race experience under his belt we expect him to find the improvement needed to go one better. The horse he finished 2nd to has a bright future . $2 is pretty short for a horse still learning his trade but it’s a winnable race.

Best Value Bunbury r2 Cohen’s Plan ; Started 100 to 1 in the same race as Magnasonic on debut and finished off well from way back. If we are going around at evens then 20s looks reasonable odds , especially if we get the job done. The dreaded bar plates going on curbs the enthusiasm and makes it a small play only.

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Bunbury r3 Audio Boy ; Has shown enough in 3 starts to win this very weak maiden . Drawn to lead or sit close without doing much work.

Bunbury r5 Rommel’s Angel ; Finished full of running last start to win impressively over 1200m. Drops 3kgs due to claim and rise in class . If she can finish off as well over 1400m then the $9.50 each well appeals as value.

Best Value Bunbury r8 Our Nemesis ; Has won two of last three in impressive fashion. Not sure what happened at the run in between but there was a decent gap so maybe there was an issue. Quicker back up indicates he is fit and healthy and the each way odds look overs.

Best Bet Ascot r2 The Lady Is A Vamp ; Ascot 1000m might not be her preferred track & distance but she’s a mare in form against an even bunch of midweek/country type horses with Pike booked to ride from a good gate.

Best Value Ascot 9 First Missile ; Is capable of a big run on his day like last start at the midweeks. This is not overly strong and he should park midfield , hopefully with cover and hit the line at juicy each way odds.

Wednesday Winners

Pinjarra r6 Tawkin Jibberish ; Caught working outside the lead on a hot tempo first attempt at 1200m and was only run down by 1 . On paper he should just about lead this uncontested and be hard to run down.

Best Bet Pinjarra r8 Bonjoy ; Talented mare who has won 4/10 and was a good run over 1200m first up when taken back from wide gate and ridden for luck. Pike takes the ride and if she’s ready for 1500m 2nd up she goes very close.

After a horror week of tips we head to our home track , with our own runners , on a big day for LUCKY DUCKS & THELANETRAIN , determined to turn it around.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Ascot r2 Nero King ; Can really let rip on his day , like last start when he put them away in a couple of strides. With this in mind barrier 1 and Ascot not ideal but we will leave the logistics up to the jockey. Wether he drags back to last and tries to loop them or cuts the corner and tries to burst through a gap , he should be close enough in the small field.

Best Value Ascot r5 Cerridwyn ; Sat wide the entire first up but still proved way too strong. . This is tougher but with natural improvement and a better run she can be right in the finish. The two early scratchings have seen her price come in from double figures and unfortunately makes the race pay 1 & 2 only. Still think she is the biggest threat to the favourite Costazita . While not disgraced by any means I was disappointed with his first up run after getting every chance . Big chance but the price is unappealing so each way Cerridwyn for me.

Ascot r8 Starry Heights ; The only way I can see him not making it 6 in a row is if he doesn’t handle the drop back from 1600m to 1400m. Map , weight , speed in race all look perfect. Cold Shizzle looks the value , insurance , quinella horse .

Best @ Barker

Mt Barker r1 Blazen Star ; Recent Bunbury form should hold up very well for a Mount Barker maiden.

Mt Barker r4 Oxbridge ; This horse has turned in to the Great Southern’s version of Placid Ark , with it’s devastating front running victories. At odds on from barrier 7 over an extra 1200m I still think he wins again but it becomes a question of risk vs reward . I personally will back the other two tips in singles and have 1 multi with him included.

Best Bet Mt Barker r7 Vonsnip ; Drawn to get the run of the race for a dynamic Great Southern duo in Tash & Sam Faithful .

Wednesday Winners

Belmont r2 Tawkin Jibberish ; Won on debut from barrier 1 down the Pinjarra straight 1000m , that is not easy to do. Now draws wide at Belmont round a bend , another tricky assignment . The horse he beat first up has ability and started $1.40 that day. The Fernie / CJP combo is red hot and set to be a real force for years to come .

Best Bet Belmont r5 Fellafromdownunder ; We are basically punting on him running out the staying trip first go as this is a very moderate race for the metro area and the first 2 home from his last start 3rd have ran well since.
