Best Each Way Belmont r7 El Patron ; Was a talented 2yo who lost his way but recent runs indicate he is back on track. Drawn to get a much more economical run than last start where he was “Piked” on the line up the inside after doing a mountain of work .

Belmont r2 Magnasonic (Place); Two satisfactory trials when not asked for much of an effort have him primed for this first up assignment. He has shown enough at his 2 career starts to be ultra competitive today and if the addition of blinkers have the desired effect then he should be up there contending for a top 3 finish. Jokers Grin looks a very nice type and is clearly hardest to beat hence the main play is a place providing the field remains 8 runners .

Best Bet Belmont r7 Pearly Nugget ; A mare who has only won 2 / 16 but has gone down narrowly both runs this prep and has competed competitively enough in stronger company to suggest she is the one to beat here.

Best Bet Belmont r5 Falcon Trader ; Ever consistent gelding who has won 6/15 including 2 of his last three. Handles all conditions and he is versatile enough to make full use of the barrier.

Wednesday Winner

Best Bet Belmont r4 Sunlit Fresco ; First start in maiden grade saw her win well , fighting off 2nd and spacing the rest. While jumping up 3.5kgs into a c1 is never easy , especially for a 3yo , she has raced in harder company previously and considering the 2nd fav is 1/23 she should have the upside to be very competitive.

Best Bet Bunbury r2 Elle Of A Boom ; Has placed both at the distance and on soft ground . Has only had 6 starts so in a very thin distance maiden that has to stand for something.

Bunbury r4 Sunlit Fresco ; Dropping back from a 2nd in a c1 at career start 2 into a maiden see’s her very well placed to win.

Belmont r2 Lucky’s Way ; Ran on well over the 1000m last start in this grade and now gets back out to the more suitable 1200m.

Best Each Way Belmont r5 Duchess of Gossip ; Has a sensational track/distance/soft track record and was really good first up to show she has come back well.

Best Each Way Kalgoorlie r4 Unlikely Hero ; Total guesswork regards to if it’s ready but it’s record of 3 places from 7 starts in Qld is more than strong enough in this moderate line up. Late betting might tell the tale.

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r5 Red Cadillac ; She is 2/2 this track and distance and her 3 runs this time in over shorter indicated she is on track to make it 3/3 .

Best Quinella Kalgoorlie r7 Nos 3 & 9 ; Both Hidden Ruby & Kelly’s Li Za Lu finished 3rd 4th behind Californication in the Provincial Series last start , he was a good thing beaten in the final yesterday. Hard to split them so we will go the quinella.

Quaddie (r4-7) ; 1 3 4 7 8 , 1 , 1 2 3 5 6 7 , 3 9 ; $60 for 100%

  • Ex Duck Prize Pursuit finally draws a barrier . He’s last run was better than it reads on paper , did way too much work to get across and popped late. From barrier 1 he gets a soft run to see if he can improve. If it was 8 runners I’d be keen on a place bet but pay 1 & 2 I’ll just throw him in the quaddie and cheer him on without financial support.

Best Bet Belmont r2 City Angel ; Won one of these 1000m Platinum’s first up , walked in even. Then ran 2nd to The Boss Lady over who is a far superior form reference than anything in this field. From barrier 2 she is versatile enough that Madi Derrick can come out positive then decide to lead or take a sit. Providing she doesn’t get held up she should be extremely hard to run down.

Best Bet Belmont r7 Capo Veloce ; His two runs this campaign have been big , finishing hard from the back. From the barrier it will have to be another big effort but you can back him on a 40/60 basis to cover your stake.

Best Bet Belmont r2 Brave Spirit ; In a race with three almost equal favourites , I’m backing the Twain’s Angel form reference . Taking ground off her over 1200m indicates the 1400m should suit. The map and 60kgs is against Chollima but she’s smart . Richanco is up in distance and class but undefeated so must be respected

Best Bet Morphetville r8 Amelia’s Jewel ; Plenty of knocks around WA’s star mare regarding 1200m and her starting price profile. Overpass is a serious sprinter on his day and I tipped him to win the Quokka and I would tip him even more confidently here . He’s not here , she will be ridden slightly more conservatively early and she has blinkers first time. She still ran 2nd being ridden upside down and if the blinkers sharpen her up even a little then she has to be the one to beat here .

Ascot r5 Cool Memory ; First try at 1600m resulted in a close 2nd to talented / flying 3yo Fly With Caution. 3yo form generally stacks up against graduation grade and he drops 1.5kgs taking on the older horses.

Best Value Ascot r7 Citino ; He has beaten up on a weak maiden field and a weak cl1 at his last two . This is technically a massive jump in class but there are still no stars in it and he drops from 60kgs to 54,5kgs to compensate. Will sit back and unleash a sharp turn of foot from the back. Each way all day.

Best Bet Northam r5 Big Swoop ; Races on pace and fights on strongly most times it goes to the races. With Flash Ducati up sharply in trip and Fioreyes on the quick back up from a tough 3100m run , I’m happy to go with the Fat Roy Slim form line (2nd narrowly beaten ) who won a Saturday race yesterday.

Best Value Ascot r6 Crippalenko; In a wide open raffle with form coming from all angles , he is racing well at this track & distance so the $8 each way is appealing.

Best Bet Ascot r8 Flower In The Wind ; Shooting for 4 on the bounce . She carries weight and can sustain a run and outstay her rivals . A mare with 60kgs over a trip makes it hard to go chips in but around $3 is the right price.

Best Bet Ascot r3 Barney’s World ; A little disappointing first up but in hindsight maybe he needed it off only a 400m trial. Made amends last start and maps to get a great run behind the speed in a race that lacks Saturday type horses.

Ascot r6 Laced Up Heels ; She’s beaten Amelia’s Jewel this track & distance and was nosed out of a wfa win last week. Hopefully a double for the Fernie / Chris Parnham combo.

Geraldton r5 Ima Wild Girl ; Ran on into 2nd over 1100m on a leaders Narrogin first up. The extra 100m suits , Faithfull will give it every chance from the barrier. Heyfield Boomer finds the top it should take some catching. Nice quinella.

Best Bet Pinjarra r4 Rubick Lass ; 10 start maiden for only the 3 minors wouldn’t usually scream best bet but this is very weak and she was desperately unlucky last start when well supported in betting. Let Sparks Fly would be favourite on last prep’s form but failed dismally first up at Geraldton.

Pinjarra r6 Simple Logic ; The form out of his win 2 starts back has been franked and barrier 1 should see him get every opportunity to repeat in this company.

Best Bet Ascot r6 Twain’s Angel ; Won both a maiden and 3yo plate at first two starts easily . Resumes off an equally impressive trial win and should get complete control in front.

Ascot r7 Golden Kathleen ; Electric win on debut , she took her medicine from barrier last start and was enormous trying to zig and zag from last through traffic. Although she is drawn a little awkward again , this time she gets Pike and being a Grand Final you would imagine they will be more positive with the tactics. Bustling is flying but ironically I don’t like barrier 1 in a 2yo feature race unless you can guarantee me he holds the front. Deserves favoritism but happy to take the better odds .

Quokka Analysis , No clear cut tip but it’s a showcase for WA racing so I’ll give my two bobs worth. Overpass has had two starts at Ascot , both over 1200m for a narrow win in last years Quokka and a dominant win in the group 1 Winterbottom stakes. I’m very confident he will take over from stablemate Malkovich early in the straight and then it’s up to King of Sparta and Amelia’s Jewel to try and run him down. At the odds I’m going to back both the boys against our local star but I’ll be holding my breath late and she definitely goes in the quaddie .

Best Bet Ascot r4 Flower In The Wind ; Mare in form going for 3 in a row and is dropping 2kgs. This is no harder if not easier and she is clearly the horse to beat.

Ascot r7 Own The Queen ; She’s won 5/6 , making a clean sweep of the 3yo fillies classics in the oaks. She doesn’t win by margins due to her racing pattern but it’s hard to see the fillies turning the tables at set weights. The boys seem to be taking turns and their form is inconsistent. How many of them are genuine stayers is questionable so I’m going back to the filly. Flash of Dallas is a 3 start maiden filly who ran a bottler in the oaks , you could make a case she should of won. She is a deadset stayer and from a better barrier would be right in contention. Will take a great ride but at $14 is worth including.

Ascot r8 Fly With Caution ; Concede it got every chance last start in an easier race but it maps to get a great run again and looks a progressive 3yo.

Ascot r6 Golden Kathleen ; Her debut 8 weeks ago was the most impressive 2yo performance this season in my opinion. She won by a space and seemingly had more up her sleeve. Barrier 9 against a pretty smart filly with the draw advantage in Golden Vale won’t be easy but she is too talented not to play at $4.

Best Bet Ascot r7 Rockanori ; Was one of the top rated 3yo’s of his year before struggling to make the transition as a 4yo. His last two runs he has attacked the line hard for a 2nd and win and thats the first time in ages he has put two good runs in a row for ages. Maps to get a great run and $7 each way is a great bet in my humble.

Ascot r9 Halatorian ; Only flop for #LANETRAIN was a complete forgive on a track that was impossible to make ground out wide. Luke Campbell gets on great with him and he should be right in the finish. Malkar Pindarri should be charging home but first up 1200 at Ascot looks inferior value at the odds , clear danger though.

Best Bet Albany r7 Toni’s Spirit ; Beaten 5 1/2 in a Perth Cup and under a length in a Bunbury Cup is great form for the Albany Cup. Looked sharp at trials Monday and ready for a peak performance.

Best Bet Ascot r3 Insyde Success ; Has come back to the races in fine fettle considering last start was a complete forgive. Should get every opportunity just behind the speed for the lethal Mcgruddy/Wolfe combo. Snow Prince bounced back last start albeit getting a dream run . If the same split comes from barrier 1 again then he is the danger.
