Weekend Winners

Best Bet Ascot r3 Cup Night; Beat some of these over 1200m first up, has won 2nd up in the past and should have plenty of improvement where most of the dangers are deep into their preps.

Ascot r5 Little Fish; Barrier and weight against him but he has carried big weights to victory in the past. $8 each way for a horse with a record of 8 starts for 6 wins and 2 places will do me.

Ascot r6 Pym’s Royale; Unlike stablemate Little Fish, Pym’s is drawn to get every possible chance and is down in the weights. Also has a very solid record (7 from 13) and Patemen chose to stick.

Bendigo r5 La Bella Diosa; Not beaten far first up in a ridiculously tougher affair.

Bendigo r9 Waging War; Was very unlucky first up in a good field, protesting unsuccessfully (many thought should of been upheld). Although 2nd up record doesn’t inspire much confidence , a closer look reveals most attempts have been in hot races and beaten margins not bad. Very keen each way.

Rosehill r3 Carif; Regally bred and put in a real eye catcher when rushing past them from the back in a 1850m maiden. This obviously a gigantic leap however I have a question mark on the fav who was a scr last week and unproven over 2000m. at $23 we can have a spec and go heavy place.

Rosehill r4 Princess Posh; All Rosehill tips have been based on a Heavy Track. It has taken a week of drying weather to get to a soft 6 and a fair amount of rain is forecast sometime raceday. As soon as it hits the track will be back in the heavy range. If it has arrived before race 4 then this girl ran a slashing 3rd in the Coolmore on the heavy last start and is a great each way price to threaten the fav. If the rain hasn’t arrived then the fav Alizee most likely wins.

Rosehill r5 Estijaab; Again only on a Wet track where she absolutely swims through it. Forgive 2nd up run in a tougher field off an injury enforced 12 months spell and look for jockey to push the button from the wide gate and bounce back hard.

Rosehill r9 Spring Charlie; Happy to be on regardless of track condition. Has a good horses record , been trialling the house down.

Rosehill Early Quaddie (r2-5); field, 1 2 9, 1 7, 4 6. $120 for 100%

Rosehill Quaddie (r6-9); 3 8, 1 3, field, 9 *(risky stand out but makes it affordable) $52 for 100%

Morphetville r2 Lake District Girl; Prepared to forgive a failure down the Flemington straight here, especially based on two previous victories including a Sandown 64.

Morphetville r5 Two Odd Socks; Didn’t get much room in a similar race last start and is each way ($6) odds.

Doomben r5 Tonsor; Another meeting where conditions are unknown. Handles all conditions and is rising rapidly through the grades.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Pakenham r1 Think I’m Dreaming; In a meeting dominated by short priced favourites that look the goods, this is the best of them. Scratched from yesterday when well in the market, stays in same class, track and distance as last start’s easy romp.

Pakenham r5 Rhames; There was a big gap to third in debut win and some of those have won next start.

Pakenham r6 Mrs O’malley; The only query is her racing pattern of getting back over the sprint trips. It cost her the race at Moonee Valley but this track should suit better.

Pakenham r8 Oregan Dreamer; Very strong form from all 3 runs this prep, all at this track. Gretsky looks the clear danger & quinella horse however needs another win to convince he genuinely finds the line.

Pakenham Quaddie (r5-8); 1 , 4, 1 2 3 4 , 4 7. $8 for 100%

* Tricky Quaddie to make money off. Every leg has a short priced fav so if they all lob pays very skinny. If you go wide you are relying on at least two favs going under. One method is to have one with favs for units and a wider back up for cover.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Sandown r7 Toorak Warrior; Two back beat all bar a potential star then couldn’t get past a heavily backed favourite. This looks slightly easier.

Sandown r2 Judge O’reilly ; Last start very close 2nd to same horse as our best bet above who obviously franked the form last week.

Sandown Early Quaddie (r1-4); 1 4 5 9 , 2, field, 1 10. $64 for 100%

Warwick Farm r2 Wayupinthesky ; Debuted in a Slipper lead up Saturday race and wasn’t disgraced. The massive drop in class and race experience should help her win here.

Warwick Farm r5 Fairlight; Distance (3/4) and Heavy (1/2) record give me the confidence it can handle the rise in class.

Warwick Farm r8 Roosevelt; Hasn’t done much this prep however peak performance last time was on a heavy track at the midweeks where it blew them away. Stable going alright just quietly!

Warwick Farm Quaddie (r5-8); 2 3, field, 3 4 8 13, 12.$88 for 100%

Ascot r7 Duck Duck Goose; I’m convinced she is the best horse in this race, slight query is the 1200m 2nd up as she needed the mile first prep to show her best.

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Bunbury r4 Too Close The Sun; Lightly raced 3yo with upside quickly out to 2000m maiden. Most of the others have had their chance.

Bunbury r3 Universal Appeal; Most trial watchers are salivating over the locally trained 3yo filly Black Ducati on debut. At the odds I’m backing the Durrant 3yo who has had two runs this prep behind two pretty handy types and looks ready to peak. Each Way. Good Quinella if you like the favourite.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Eagle Farm r8 Sword of Justice; Has been ultra impressive leading all the way past two and the map suggests will get every chance to do so again. Really rate the kid on top also. For omen punters the name is quiet relevant being trained by Ben Currie !!

Eagle Farm Jockey Challenge; No market yet to know if worthwhile but Baylee Nothdurft has a ridiculously good book of rides and is a gun apprentice to boot.

Rosehill r2 Classique Legend; Short enough for a horse jumping in class and drawn out but has looked like a star sprinter from day 1, backed up by the clock.

Rosehill r6 DanzDanzDance; Wet Track form in NZ is very good at the highest level. Each Way.

Rosehill r7 Pin Sec; Suggest small each way as it’s a very wide open slipper but she is 2/2 and although not in the elite races they were ultra impressive and easy victories. Has a sharp turn of foot and looked as though she had more gears to call on.

Ascot r5 Specialism; Her only defeat came at the hands of very smart Jericho Missile who is odds on in the boys division and she worked hard for narrow defeat that day. This is a cracking race with a host of smart fillies but $5.50 each way is a good bet in my opinion.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Geraldton r5 Ebony Magi; Bit late but climbing on the Troy Turner at Geraldton bandwagon. Will have to come from near last from bad gate but has the stride and ability to do it as proven by last win.

Geraldton r8 Hot Style; Jumping in class but that doesn’t seem to matter in this region as all the horses do the same. Has been winning very easily of late.

Best Bet Sandown r4 See Me Exceed ; Races best fresh and has form around recent group 1 winner Booker.

Pinjarra r2 Sophie’s Song; If we can put down last start failure to not running out the mile then her previous form is good enough to beat these.Pretty skinny odds to find out though!

Pinjarra r8 Fire Maker; Very good run first up and record at 1200m ok where as fav untried past 1100m. Good each way chance.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Rosehill r5 Verry Elleegant; If the penny ever drops with her she could be a superstar. Went enormous first up despite her usual tricks and wet track no problem whatsoever.

Rosehill r7 Jamaicain Rain; The likely heavy track conditions have seen an unbelievable amount of money see her firm in to $4.80 fav in a field of 20. She is an absolute duck with a light weight.

Flemington r1 Clarice Cliffs; Was heavily supported last start in tougher race and just missed. Better suited here.

Flemington r2 Jumbo Ozaki; Has a cult following after two provincial starts for two soft wins. Big jump in class but conditions appear perfect.

Flemington r7 Hellova Street; Barrier 16 and 59kgs seems a fair task but has a very solid track and distance record. If he can get over without using too much petrol he will take some running down. Each Way.

Flemington r8 Alizee; Has been bombproof all prep showing her blistering turn of foot no matter what position she finds herself in.

Flemington Quaddie r6-9; field, 3 9 12 13, 11, 5 9. $120 for 100%

Ascot r3 Express Flirt; Has carried big weights successfully before and has draw advantage over main rival.

Ascot r5 Macroy; What a prep she’s having and if she gets the right run then doubt they can hold her out late.

Ascot r6 Stairwaytothemoon; There is no dominant staying filly among these heading towards the oaks. She has been taking on midweek older horses and already proven she can handle the distance. Forget last start where she drifted in the market and was a while between runs with the idea of getting to the oaks. She made up very good ground from way back. $16 is over the odds in my opinion.

Gold Coast r1 Drumadoir; Handles all conditions. That’s important here as conditions were pretty bad late Friday. Current form around in form horses is good enough.

Gold Coast r7 Sugar Boom; Trial suggested she was a serious horse, started $1.50 on debut and looked home for all money before stopping late. Fitter and more experienced, punters are obviously keen to recoup as she has been sensationally backed in a much harder race.

Gold Coast r9 Mr Marbellouz; Terrific record in all conditions , gets a head start on main rivals.

Gold Coast Quaddie r7-10; 2 10, 1 3 12, 5, 2 8 11 13 18. $30 for 100%

Sandown r1 Charitable Nature; If he replicates last prep’s 2nd up run over same distance he should be winning.

Sandown r6 Blonde Disposition; The horse that finished 2nd to her first up has since bolted in as a very short priced favourite. She also has form around group 1 horses.

Best Bet Bunbury r8 Come Play With Me; Been set for the cup, senior jock goes on , best genuine stayer in the race.

Bunbury r1 Lookout; City maiden form should be good enough here.

Echuca r4 Rock Pearl; Impressive on debut and the turn of foot he showed most likely good enough to round these up too.

Echuca r6 Mirette; Ignore narrow margin first up in much easier. Trainer had plenty left in tank and it was a dynamite leaders track.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Flemington r7 Angelic Ruler; Think this daughter of underrated WA sire Universal Ruler can chalk up a group 2 on Super Saturday which would be a great achievement for all involved and our breeding industry. Flemington 1400m with the blinkers on looks the ideal scenario with WA star Damian Lane to steer.

Flemington r2 Bravo Tango; Several horses in this are going places but he is having a prep where he is delivering on his early promise and maps to get the sweetest of runs.

Flemington r8 Trap for Fools (place); Hard to see Avilius getting beaten but another WA cult horse in Trap won last years Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes over this track and distance. Put simply when he is rock hard fit and in this distance range he leads for fun and fights hard to the wire. I’m suggesting a place bet, quinella with the fav and throw him in the quaddie just in case.

Flemington Quaddie (r6-9); 2 4 6 14 22, 1, 4 7, field $130 for 100%

Randwick r8 All Too Soon; Nice mare who generally flies 2nd up and first up was a fast finishing 2nd behind a smart type. Will be running on hard again.

Randwick Quaddie (r6-9); 1 2 3 5, 1, 3 6 7 8, 1 - 11 inclusive $176 for 100%

Eagle Farm r5 Francisca; Did too much work last start but only nabbed late. Would declare it but I’m not a big fan of Jockey named.

Eagle Farm r6 Rocknavar; Fast finishing 2nd to Tactee last start and now gets 2.5kg swing and extra distance to turn the tables in a pretty moderate affair.

Eagle Farm r8 Capital Connection; Won very easily last start and although drawn awkward there are a lot of emergencies still in field and solid pace so even 3 wide with cover will be ok.

Eagle Farm Quaddie (r6-9); 11, 1 2 3 4 6 9 , 4, 4 9 10. $18 for 100%

Ascot r6 Special Delivery; Is absolutely flying at present and unlucky not to have more wins on board. Less weight this time.

Best Bet Pakenham r4 Little Phoenix; Has improved in both starts to date and both were in stronger city maidens.

Albany r7 Cold as Cold; Well named as that’s how you ride him for best results. Did a good job to get so close last start as he was drawn wide in a big field. From this draw and with less horses to get past he should be very hard to hold out.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Flemington r6 Furrion; This horse looks like a group 1 horse every time he races fresh. So much so he starts odds on later in prep over longer distances which he is yet to handle. Unbeaten 1st and 2nd up and 2/2 over 1400m he will take a stack of beating at backable odds.

Flemington r4 Swift Sis; Has run 2nd to Dainty Tess in WA and 5/7 at distance. Can run a sneaky race at big odds. Stable is flying.

Flemington r8 Amphitrite; Took her on first up and paid the price as she proved much too classy. Harder against the boys but maps to get every possible chance to show her explosive turn of foot. Nearly had Mystic Journey on top and is clearly hardest to beat but she will need a lot of luck from barrier 1 as most likely gets back. Worth a saver.

Flemington Quaddie (r6-9); 7, 1 4 6, 14 15, 2 4 5 14. $24 for 100%.

Ascot r1 Avidus; Should get a much softer run up on pace today and 2 back bolted in under those conditions.

Ascot r6 Assetro; Was a promising 2yo who stable have been aiming at the 3yo distance races from day 1. Do A Pataky a good roughie.

Randwick r9 Maximus; Has a great 2nd up record and just missed 1st up.

Randwick Quaddie (r6-9); 5, 1 4 5 7 10 12 14, 1 2 4 6 7 9 12, 3 8. $84 for 100%

Best Bet Wyong r8 Holy Reign; Is a 3yo on the rise going for 3 straight and already proven he can carry weight and run the distance.

Kyneton r1 Reinvigorate; If Oliver is riding here at this time of year then he must be keen to keep the ride on something and this looks the obvious one. Very good on debut and increase in distance suits.

Pinjarra r3 Uni Time; 2 runs to date have been outstanding without much luck and won’t be a maiden for long.

Pinjarra r6 Fair Nikita; One of those horses that can run good races against good horses than frustrate you in easier but last couple have been good and drawn to get every chance with top jockey on.

Best Bet Ascot r6 Mackenzie Brooke; After several of my tips have opened ridiculously short this morning going for a bit of value for the best bet. 3yo filly who was a strong winner over 1690m at only start 2. Bred to relish the 1800m and 2nd from her maiden win has since won her own maiden easily. Drawn to box seat or similar.

Ascot Quaddie (r5-8); 1 3, 1 7, field, 4 7 9 13. $192 for 100%

Rosehill r4 Latin Light; Going for 3 on the bounce and will either lead or box seat. Was an easy winner first try this trip so can’t see it going backwards. Hoping for a better price close to jump.

Best Bet Pinjarra r3 Shuwish; Caught wide on debut but kept coming. Drawn to get better run in easier.

Pinjarra r2 Vinaceous; Improving as the distance increases and this is very weak.

Hawkesbury r7 Spring Charlie; Has won 5/7 , 2/2 both first up and distance. Has been given solid work out at trials to be ready for this distance. Always tricky when stablemate is fav but prefer him.

Sale r2 Auxin; The Godolphin 2yo’s are winning everything and this one has been competitive in the Blue Diamond lead ups.

Sale r5 Delightful Ceylna; Hard not to tip a mare coming back from winning a bm64 into a BM 58 and a very weak one at that. Just has to cope with 60kgs.
