Best Bet Ascot r10 Laverod; Was very keen on it’s chances before the scratching of early favourite Massimo. Now I’m declaring it but have to take the short odds. Stalks a decent speed and goes bang down the straight .

Ascot r8 Kelvin; Gave 3yo’s weight and a beating including an unbeaten odds on fav. If Graham can get him over from the wide draw without burning too much fuel then he becomes very hard to run down again.

Ascot Quaddie (r7-10); 3 5 6 7 8 9 10, *6 , field , 6. $112 for 100%

*no6 Kelvin is a big risk as a standout but I’m prepared to take a chance to spend less.

Morphetville r7 Toffee Tongue ; $6 for a maiden in a group 1 . If it wasn’t for a superstar NSW staying filly she would be a group 1 winning filly on heavy ground , same conditions she is likely to face tomorrow. Great price.

Thursday Tips

Best Value Geraldton r4 Golden Acres; Has always shown glimpses of ability and at most recent runs it has been attacking the line well . Going around the favourites who have big weights to carry. Currently paying $11 , good each way play.

Monday Money

Best Value Albany r2 Bergio ; 7yo who had reached his mark in the metro area hence the stable change to the Great Southern. Thought his first run for stable showed he still had something to offer in the right race. Getting down in the weights now and looks an each way play at good odds. I suggest 25/75 spilt of stake.

Best Bet Pinjarra r6 Porphyrio; Up in class and weight on it’s last start demolition job here at Pinjarra. Pope’s horses generally grow wings at his home track and maps to get a similar gun run.

Pinjarra Quaddie (r6-9); 2 5 7 , 2, 3 6 7, 2 4 6 7 11 12 . $54 for 100%

Best Bet Ascot r8 King Blitz; Richly talented 6 year old who has battled soundness issues his all career hence only the 11 starts. Trainer has stated he is ready for a trip this time in which indicates he is 100% fit and healthy. Has been lumping enormous weights down in class including 62kgs latest run where he won over 1600m. 55kgs will feel like a feather to him. Big responsibility on jockey Peta Edwards to win a Saturday feature but she is his regular jockey . Has been absolutely hammered in pre post betting.

Best Value Ascot r9 Mankind; Not often we get $8 on a “Pike in the last” runner . Has a great first up and track and distance record. A soft track would double my confidence , I’m predicting good but it still should have some give in it at least. Beat Free Trade (wide the trip with big weight) last prep. Free Trade has been touted as a group horse. 25/75 stake looks a good each way bet.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Bunbury r7 Ice Trade; Got squashed at a critical moment last start but still picked herself up and ran on well . Back to her home track she will be very hard to beat. Peppijack the clear danger if he can handle the 62.5kgs. Loves soft going.

Bunbury r5 Angelique’s Fame; While never over confident with my own horses, conditions look very similar to last week where the wide barrier may not be as bad as it looks by race 5. Should be in the finish with luck in running.

Best Bet Ascot r8 Sentimental Friend; Ex Peters Investments horse that showed some ability in this distance range. Showed he was ready last start with a close 2nd over the 1600m. Getting up where it hurts in the weights however that is an indication of how limited the opposition are. Each Way.

Best Value Ascot r3 Alexis Olympia; 5yo mare that has only had 3 starts. On debut ran 2nd to a horse that went on to win in Saturday grade. Then went to Narrogin and bolted in , the form out of race wasn’t terrible. Failed next start back in at Ascot in a c1 but that was a ridiculously strong c1 and did plenty of work to sit outside hot speed before dropping out late. Has the speed to cross and ability to at least hang on for a place at odds.

Best Bet Geraldton r3 Pinsson; Former very handy metro galloper who still has a zest for racing based on his two dominant wins in the region. Getting up in the weights but still looks to get the perfect run.

Geraldton r4 The Full Quid; This is a tough one. Last start we made her our best bet and she stayed in the gates and took no part. She has also done this previously. Sent back to trials she won (beating moderate opposition) by 14 lengths. If she jumps she goes very close but that has to be a massive concern. I will be giving her one more chance but will be holding my breath!

Geraldton Early Quaddie (R1-4); 2 5 , 3 , 2, 1 3 5 6 $8 for 100%

Best Bet Ascot r10 Baby Blues; Went enormous first up over unsuitable 1000m . Raced a bit flat 2nd up but still got the job done then freshened and another great win over 1200m when only getting out late and storming home. Has had 3 starts at 1400m for 2 wins and a 2nd. $9 is a great each way play for mine.

Best Value Ascot r7 Beauty Kansas; 2/2 at track and distance including last start. Drawn to get gun run , nicely weighted and great “roughy” jockey booked all point to $18 being a good each way bet.

Ascot r5 Mervyn ; Ability wise not sure he is in my top 3. My top 3 are all first up however and over the 1000m he will find the front and try and run them into the ground. Massimo is clearly weighted to win. Odds on first up over 1000m? Willing to take him on at the price. Uni Time absolutely flies fresh . Untried at 1000m and will be a huge effort to run them down with 63.5kgs.Gee Boss loves 1000m and claim suits. $16 is slightly overs for a horse with his ability.

First 4 ; 5 , 1 3 4 10 , s2 , s2 . $24 for 100%

Ascot Early Quaddie (r3-6); 2 , field , 5 10 , 2 3 4 10 11. $90 for 100%

Ascot Main Quaddie (r7-10); 2 4 6 7 13 , 1 7 , 5 9 , 2 5 6 11 .$80 for 100%

Best Bet Ascot r3 Blackwater Bay ; Doubt anybody missed it’s first up run when taken right back to last and ridden for luck which didn’t eventuate , making late ground out wide under little riding when the race was all over. Full brother to group 1 winner who will get better the longer the distances get.

Best Value Ascot r8 San Crispino ; Very hard mare to catch who seems to have been up forever. Form dropped off for awhile but last couple have been ok in stronger races. Form around King Blitz is strong enough to run a race here at each way prices.

Best Bet Albany r7 Danehill Storm; Finally broke through last start when carrying 60kg from a wide barrier and putting them to the sword. Drawn to lead and control this. Is a proven weight carrier so the extra 1.5kgs to stay in the same class not too concerning. The favourite Sea War looks the obvious danger. Is jumping from a weak maiden to cl2 however so not sure it should be so short. Could entertain boxing the exacta.

Albany Quaddie (r6-9) ; 1 2 3 7 11 , 1 5 , 1 3, 2 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11. $180 for 100%

Best Bet Ascot r6 On The Turps ; Watching his replays you would think he is stuck in groundhog day. Gets a long way back and rockets home to catch the eye. His track record of 17 starts for 1 win and 1 3rd tells you he is a tease. His runs this prep have been better and he is weighted , drawn to run a race in an even, limited field for a Saturday. Each Way.

Ascot r3 Son Of A God ; You don’t need me to tell you a $1.95 fav is a good chance of winning. I’m simply advising that the price i acceptable. Very smart horse who has been winning as he likes. Toughest test but will reach a higher level .

Ascot Early Quaddie (r3-6); 1 , 2 3 4 5 7 8 , 4 7 9 10 , 4 12 . $48 for 100%

Ascot Quaddie (r7-10); 1 4 5 6 7 8 13, 4 , 1 4 6 7 8 9 10 12 , 3 6 8 11 . $224 for 100%

Ascot r8 Tuscan Queen ; As suggested on Oaks day she will turn up in the Derby at similar odds and win again.

Good Friday Bookie Crucifixion

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r7 Native Chimes; Started fav in numerous of it’s metro/provincial maidens. Transferred to the Fernie camp who dominate Kal and won softly first go. Ran 2nd to Beret a few starts ago. That form stands out here.

Ascot r9 Ice Trade; Has a short sharp turn of foot that is best suited to today’s 1200m. Both trainer and jockey know this and she looks well placed for her first try away from her home track. Each Way.

Kalgoorlie Quaddie (r4-7); 1 2 3 6 7 , 2 3 5 6 , 1 4 , 7. $40 for 100%

Best Bet Geraldton r6 Blankenberge; Going for 4 in a row at this track and distance. Although technically up in class it’s still prety much against the same horses but dropping 2kg in weight. Can’t see it not being in the finish from barrier 1.

Best Bet Pinjarra r3 Playing Red ; Playing God filly on Debut for team Durrant. Trials have been solid enough for this . Hopefully Pike can negotiate the tricky gate.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Ascot r7 Media Baron ; After promising so much as a 3yo this grey is finally living up to his potential. Has gone from a non winner to 4 out of his last 5 , a tragedy beaten in the 1 loss when running 2nd by a nose. This is his toughest test class wise and always need’s a good ride as his pattern is to get back and get up in the last few strides. No one can do this better than his regular rider Paul Harvey and he is weighted to keep the streak going.

Ascot r9 Plutocracy; There’s no doubt the 3yo’s Red Can Man and Laverod will be all the talk in this race. There are several others that can win with the right run including Plutocracy that are big each way prices because of the wraps on the 3yo’s. Red Can Man has to carry 58.5kgs from a tricky barrier. Laverod drops in weight but also comes back 100m. His 2 wins were very impressive to the eye but in fairly ordinary form races. Plutocracy is drawn to get a gun trail camped over the leaders and has a sharp sprint that will be hard to hold out. Suggest 25/75% each way.

Ascot Quaddie (r6-9); 1 2 4 5 7 12 , 6 , 1 7 , 8 9 . $24 for 100%

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Albany r4 Miracle Man; Hasn’t done much since winning a 100k listed race as a 3yo. Is however suited at the trip which is a query for most of the others . The Durrant stable have won a lot of races with out of form horses with their willingness to travel far and wide . Dare say he would need to win to stay in the stable for much longer.

Albany r5 ; GO ANGELIQUE’S FAME !!

Exacta ; 2 5 , 1 2 5 9 .

Boxed 1st 4 ; 1 2 5 9 .

Albany r7 Cleo’s Afterparty; Good each way price for a locally trained, in form Wolfe runner . Claim gets it down to 52kg.

Best Bet Ascot r1 Queen Brown ; Has shown above average ability in her two starts to date. Would not be out of place in Saturday’s Karrakatta Plate . Her racing pattern suggests 1400m will be ideal .

Multi/Betfair ;

Ascot r7 Beret; Normally $1.60 for a last start maiden winner would be poison. Add Pike and most favourable speed map and it’s about right. On a very tough program these two shorties will have to do.

Ascot Quaddie (r7-10); 5 , 1 2 3 5 8 10 11 13 , 1, 1 2 3 5 6 7 8 11 12 15 .$80 for 100%
