Best Bet Belmont r6 Costa Del Santo; Won very impressively , swooping from the back on a soft 7 two back before striking traffic problems but still attacking the line hard for a close 2nd. Today’ s conditions should suit.

Best Value Belmont r9 Diplomat Express ; These staying races throw up different winners every week. Has had three runs at the track and distance for 1 2nd (last start) and 2 3rds. $31 available in a raffle.

Belmont r5 Double Bubble ; Has won 5/6 on soft and beat higher rated horses than it meets here first up. Will lead and take running down, hopefully the inside is ok.

Belmont r8 Arctic Stream; Don’t mind backing quality stayers that have a turn of foot first up. Has 5 runs at the distance for 1 win and 4 2nds, 5 first up runs for 1 win and 3 2nds. In a great betting race with numerous chances at good odds, small each way play at the $41 will do me.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Belmont r5 Western Chant ; First up run on soft going was very encouraging in a stronger race. The Lane/Yuill team has been a ATM for followers recently.

Belmont r7 Jaguar Grey ; First go at the mile but has been racing like it will suit , being strong at the end of 1400m. This isn’t a strong race and if she runs 1650m she goes close.

Belmont r8 ; Missing Pro; Speedy 1000m horse that has plenty of ability but can do things wrong , especially at the start. Was on her best behavior last start (unfortunately) , holding our own Angelique’s Fame who was airborne at the time. Wet ground some query.

Belmont Quaddie (r5-8) ; 3 6 10 , 2 3 4 5 6 , 8 9 11 , 3 5 ( 9 13 ) $90 for 100% If you want some extra insurance or value in the last leg 9 + 13 are worth including , perhaps for a smaller percentage.

Best Bet Belmont r2 Venetian Jewel; Everyone with an opinion wants to tip you into the debutante Bright Diamond. Yes it’s trials have been impressive however there was also a lot to like about this girls trial. She has also performed under race pressure, running a close 2nd as a 2yo at her only start . With blinkers going on first time , she is going to get a head start on the favourite .

Best Value Flemington r6 Great Again ; Failed to deliver at his only Melbourne start but his record at the distance in WA (4/6) and wet (6/8 and 2 2nds) is outstanding. Given a break since and trainers horses are flying in both states. Great each way value.

Not overly keen on the Belmont program but have found a few small plays .

Belmont r4 Freez’ emoff ; Giving him another chance to run over the top of Utgard Loki; The fav got a picnic in front last clash and he was still coming on the line. Will again have some ground to make up but the smallish field , long Belmont straight and extra 100m should help. Jockey Kyra Yuill could win on Tom Melbourne the way she is going!

Belmont r6 Sir Mambo; 60kgs after the claim and a wide draw not ideal but I prefer $10 each way for a horse going well over a horse who is first up for nearly a year at $2.05. He does like to run 2nd so maybe split your stake 25/75 accordingly.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Belmont r7 Adrian Makfi ; It’s last three starts have been 3rd 4th 3rd over this distance at Ascot in much stronger grade. Although this is run at Belmont, it is a transferred Narrogin meeting . Has an awful barrier for an apprentice to overcome but any luck and must be in the finish.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Pinjarra r6 Firesale; To be honest Tradensia & Costa Del Santo are most likely better horses . I did however tip Firesale as my best bet last start and it had track bias against , luckless, poorly ridden , take your pick in Saturday grade. All of trainer Brett Pope’s horses grow wings at their home track , the start before this horse absolutely demolished them in a c1 over 1400m despite sitting deep the trip. Drawn to get every chance where as Tradensia has an awkward gate and Costa will give them a big headstart.

Pinjarra r4 Kinder Kinder; Great run on debut in quick time for maidens. From the soft draw if she repeats it she should be beating these.

Pinjarra Early Quaddie (r1-4) ; 3 , 4 6, field, 11 $24 for 100%

Pinjarra Quaddie (r5-8) ; 3 4 6 7 8 11 . 3 , 2 3 5 6 8 9 10 , 4 5 6 10 , $168 for 100%

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Morphetville r7 Harbour Views; First up was a cracking run in a hot form race on a heavy 9. While this is officially a group 3 , I rate his form lines stronger. $2.60 looks overs to me , haven’t been this confident for awhile!

Morphetville Quaddie (r6-9); 4, 9, 1 2 3 4 7 , field $80 for 100%

Best Value; Gold Coast r9 Tardis; Goes best at this track and distance . A lot of the classier horses in this are very hit and miss. Drawn 3 and from top Qld stable , jockey on fire, you could do worse than have a nibble each way at $41

Flemington r6 Too Close The Sun; May not be suited by the WFA conditions but will lead and no matter what the scenario it will fight tooth and nail to the line. The favourite is 9 weeks between runs and my pick is so tough he will have to sustain a run to get past him.

Ascot r2 Amelia’s Contraire; $1.90 acceptable considering it maps to get run of the race and has a turn of foot that should have them covered.

Ascot r6 Condor Heroes; Sustained breakneck speed last start to thrash his rivals and make it 2/2 in the west. Weight doesn’t concern me over 1000m and it’s hard to see them turning the tables. Very confident.

Best Bet Ascot r5 Schoolhouse Rock; Should settle closer , get a more economical run compared to last time out when had to sustain a long run out wide. There are some non winners among the leaders so confident he can get over the top of them late.

Ascot r6 Jarman; Only 2 wins from 18 but those two were last prep so getting better with age. Blew the start 2nd up and rattled home in what looks like a good form race for this. Can settle closer (if jumps better), if track pattern requires him to do so.

Ascot r4 Angelique’s Fame ; Had of drawn a gate we would be very confident. If earlier races say you can run on then we are a big chance. Still happy to have something on each way regardless.

Ascot Quaddie (r5-8); 2 6 , 3 , field, 1 3 4 7 11.$60 for 100%

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Ascot r5 Firesale; It was only a weak Pinjarra c1 but the ease of the last start win was ridiculous. Only 2 wins from 17 but maybe like most Trade Fair progeny it’s a late maturer. Down to 56.5kgs with Pike on will do me.

Best Value Ascot r9 Twentythree Red ; Fought off my best bet Porphrio last start for a tough on pace win, 2nd up over 1600m. That horse then absolutely trotted in next start. Hard to get too excited with track record of 1 placing from 14 starts but drawn to run a cheeky race.

Ascot r8 Freezemoff; Fav Utgard Loki looks extremely hard to beat however still has to run the trip for the first time. Freezemoff is 2/3 at the distance including winning the Geraldton Cup easily. Kyra Yuill retains the ride and she is in white hot form.

Best Bet Warrnambool r8 Too Close The Sun; Free wheeling stayer that can absorb pressure and give a good kick at the end. 2/2 on soft .

Ascot r5 Irritable Rodnee; The only query here is the conditions, they are horrendous. In normal circumstances he is a class above this lot. $2.10 with 60.5kg from barrier 1 ? I suggest seeing how the inside plays earlier before investing.

Ascot r8 Next Stop The Moon; The one runner today most likely to appreciate the conditions. His 3kg claim makes him hard to catch from the front .

Ascot Quaddie (r5-8); 2 , 2 3 , field, 1 .$22 for 100%

Best Bet Ascot r10 Laverod; Was very keen on it’s chances before the scratching of early favourite Massimo. Now I’m declaring it but have to take the short odds. Stalks a decent speed and goes bang down the straight .

Ascot r8 Kelvin; Gave 3yo’s weight and a beating including an unbeaten odds on fav. If Graham can get him over from the wide draw without burning too much fuel then he becomes very hard to run down again.

Ascot Quaddie (r7-10); 3 5 6 7 8 9 10, *6 , field , 6. $112 for 100%

*no6 Kelvin is a big risk as a standout but I’m prepared to take a chance to spend less.

Morphetville r7 Toffee Tongue ; $6 for a maiden in a group 1 . If it wasn’t for a superstar NSW staying filly she would be a group 1 winning filly on heavy ground , same conditions she is likely to face tomorrow. Great price.

Best Value Geraldton r4 Golden Acres; Has always shown glimpses of ability and at most recent runs it has been attacking the line well . Going around the favourites who have big weights to carry. Currently paying $11 , good each way play.

Best Value Albany r2 Bergio ; 7yo who had reached his mark in the metro area hence the stable change to the Great Southern. Thought his first run for stable showed he still had something to offer in the right race. Getting down in the weights now and looks an each way play at good odds. I suggest 25/75 spilt of stake.

Best Bet Pinjarra r6 Porphyrio; Up in class and weight on it’s last start demolition job here at Pinjarra. Pope’s horses generally grow wings at his home track and maps to get a similar gun run.

Best Bet Ascot r8 King Blitz; Richly talented 6 year old who has battled soundness issues his all career hence only the 11 starts. Trainer has stated he is ready for a trip this time in which indicates he is 100% fit and healthy. Has been lumping enormous weights down in class including 62kgs latest run where he won over 1600m. 55kgs will feel like a feather to him. Big responsibility on jockey Peta Edwards to win a Saturday feature but she is his regular jockey . Has been absolutely hammered in pre post betting.

Best Value Ascot r9 Mankind; Not often we get $8 on a “Pike in the last” runner . Has a great first up and track and distance record. A soft track would double my confidence , I’m predicting good but it still should have some give in it at least. Beat Free Trade (wide the trip with big weight) last prep. Free Trade has been touted as a group horse. 25/75 stake looks a good each way bet.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Bunbury r7 Ice Trade; Got squashed at a critical moment last start but still picked herself up and ran on well . Back to her home track she will be very hard to beat. Peppijack the clear danger if he can handle the 62.5kgs. Loves soft going.

Bunbury r5 Angelique’s Fame; While never over confident with my own horses, conditions look very similar to last week where the wide barrier may not be as bad as it looks by race 5. Should be in the finish with luck in running.

Best Bet Ascot r8 Sentimental Friend; Ex Peters Investments horse that showed some ability in this distance range. Showed he was ready last start with a close 2nd over the 1600m. Getting up where it hurts in the weights however that is an indication of how limited the opposition are. Each Way.

Best Value Ascot r3 Alexis Olympia; 5yo mare that has only had 3 starts. On debut ran 2nd to a horse that went on to win in Saturday grade. Then went to Narrogin and bolted in , the form out of race wasn’t terrible. Failed next start back in at Ascot in a c1 but that was a ridiculously strong c1 and did plenty of work to sit outside hot speed before dropping out late. Has the speed to cross and ability to at least hang on for a place at odds.

Best Bet Geraldton r3 Pinsson; Former very handy metro galloper who still has a zest for racing based on his two dominant wins in the region. Getting up in the weights but still looks to get the perfect run.

Geraldton r4 The Full Quid; This is a tough one. Last start we made her our best bet and she stayed in the gates and took no part. She has also done this previously. Sent back to trials she won (beating moderate opposition) by 14 lengths. If she jumps she goes very close but that has to be a massive concern. I will be giving her one more chance but will be holding my breath!

Geraldton Early Quaddie (R1-4); 2 5 , 3 , 2, 1 3 5 6 $8 for 100%
