Thursday Tips

Best Bet Northam r4 Uncanny Timing; Last campaign bumped into Long Beach and Son of a God in maidens , finishing 3rd on both occasions. Both those horses are now multiple Saturday grade winners. Solid trial win in preparation for this and no Saturday class horses to beat . Universal Pleasure the main danger. Needs to develop a knockout punch but is getting closer each start. Good Quinella.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Belmont r4 Elite Street; This is a great race with plenty of chances. Gate 1 has been worth it’s weight in gold at Belmont in recent times, hence the confidence in making it my best. Tracks Stella Door (bar plates on ) and goes bang at top of straight. Puli is absolutely flying but has had every possible chance from soft draws last two and draws wide. Great Heist won impressively first up but is likely to get back and run on which has been very hard to do at Belmont recently.

Belmont r2 Empire Reign; Stuck to it’s task , running 2nd behind an all the way winner on debut. It was still coming late so with the extra 100m and natural improvement it can go one better.

Belmont r8 Expressionist; Will be popular due to Pike in the last cult followers but has the form to justify the short qoute. Trusting Pike to have it close enough to the leaders if conditions suit leaders as expected. Looks the only horse with considerable upside in the field.

Belmont Quaddie (r5-8) ; 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 10 11 , 1 3 4 12 13 , 3 5 , 9 . $100 for 100%

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r8 Hayan Lad ; Has won then ran 2nd here last 4 starts in similar grade of races. Beaten a lip by today’s rival Watto’s Fury . Draws 4 vs 14 and 2kgs. $6 each way good bet, very confident it at least places.

Best Value Kalgoorlie r4 Romasko; Very fast early , winning her maiden here easily by jumping and running them along. This is much harder but it’s a good track to lead on and she should find the front again and give them something to catch at $10 each way. Has ran behind our very own Angelique’s Fame who would towel these up.

Kalgoorlie r5 Amiilionite; Doesn’t win out of turn but races well here, winning in the same grade last start, albeit with Pike on and narrowly. Loses nothing with Yuill on and will handle the rise in trip. It’s a question of value , current $3.20 about right.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r7 Red Can Man ; One of the best 3yo’s of the season , especially over the sprint trips. Maps to get unbelievably good run on pace either leading or sitting on their hammer which in recent times has been the place to be. Huge respect to a fresh Cup Night who will be steaming home from next to last but tipping that will be a big ask against a horse of Red Can’s ability.

Belmont r9 Double The Pro; Unlike our best bet , this one settles back and rockets home. Has shown a real liking for Belmont recently and if the track plays fair enough for his racing style is bound to be in the finish. The fav Position of Power is flying but took Harvey throwing the kitchen sink at him after getting a gun run to score last start. Not sure he is an apprentice horse at this stage , can do things wrong at the start. Gobsmacked it opened 16’s , $7.50 each away about right.

Best Bet Carnarvon r6 Glen Albyn; Tipped it last start this track and distance where it ran into 1 better on the day . Beat everything else comfortably and this is no harder.

Carnarvon Quaddie (r3-6); 2, 1 2 6 7 9 12 , field, 11 $42 for 100%

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Pinjarra r3 Bolshoi Gal ; Has had 9 cracks at breaking her maiden with this prep beginning with 2 seconds. The latest one was beaten under a length by a $1.20 pop this track and distance on soft. A repeat of that run wins here.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Belmont r4 Beat The Bro; Little separated him from La Vina last time and now he has a 1kg swing in the weights to help turn the tables. Both are stepping up 300m which is no given so going to have a small saver on Safety Bay who has been racing without much luck and has ticked off the distance box.

r4 Novelties

1st 3 7 2nd 1 2 3 7 3rd 1 2 3 6 7 4th field.

Belmont r8 Excellent Dream ; Scratchings have ruined any chance of a price but should prove too fast for these. Alexis Olympia is impossible to catch but led for a long way last start . Can run a cheeky race for the novelties.

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r5 Cloak & Dagger; Breathtaking win this track and distance two starts ago then a close 2nd in similar company. Drawn well with Yuill on who rides the track very well.

Kalgoorlie r8 Cuban Twist ; Solid win over 1600m here against similar horses then went to town and ran 5 lengths off unbeaten Chantrea in the Belmont Oaks. Great form for this.

Kalgoorlie Quaddie (r5-8) ; 5 , 1 2 3 4 7 8 11 , 1 2 3 5 6 7 9 , 2 5 8. $147 for 100%

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r9 Zephyr Queen; Bolted in this track and distance on soft 3 starts back then has placed twice in similar . Drawn to get every possible chance and the fav is stepping up in trip on a rain soaked track which it is yet to encounter.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Northam r3 What Planet You On ; Going ok this prep and winner from last start ran ok Wednesday in a much stronger race. Hard to be too confident with a 9 starts for 2 2nds record but this field is very weak and current form is good enough to beat these.

Northam r6 Lavistar; Presents 3rd up from a spell with Pike jumping on. Might be looking for further (yet to be placed at 1600m ) but gets too good a run for Pike in a very weak race to ignore.

Northam r8 Drinkwhatyoulike; Over raced in front first up for new stable but was still only caught late. Pike replaces an apprentice which is vital to try and settle to get the extra 100m. Pike in the last on a horse named after him!

Betfair/Multi ; Both these runners should justify their short quotes but I’m not too keen on odds on favs on a winter’s Thursday at Northam.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Belmont r7 Position of Power; Finished off powerfully after missing the start over 1200m , running 2nd to a subsequent Saturday winner. Then beat in form gallopers this track and distance , running over the top of them despite again missing the start. If he can jump better he is close to a good thing , hard to beat regardless.

Belmont r4 Sweetassa ; Speedy 1000m specialist who looks hard to catch with only 53.5kgs on her back. Any on pace bias would be very advantageous and obviously out wide / swooping conditions a no go zone for her.

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Carnarvon r4 Angel Jupiter; Big question about the strength of opposition she demolished this track and distance last start. No question on her liking for dirt tracks based on both efforts here.

Carnarvon r5 Glen Albyn; Comfortable he has good enough form for the race. The gamble is unlike the previous race it’s not dirt form. Trainer having a purple patch. Small play for me.

Betfair/Multi ;

Carnarvon r7 Danefin; Has won it’s last two starts by a combined 15 lengths , both here on the dirt. The 1 failure at distance wasn’t on dirt so not a concern for me. Don’t like taking odds on but deserves it.

Carnarvon Quaddie r4-7 ; 5 , 1 3 5 6 8 9 , field , 5. $66 for 100%

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r6 Flower of Scotland ; Rising 7yo mare who has never raced better , going for 4 in a row this time in. All 3 wins have been similar , getting back and sitting wide out of trouble before thundering home to breathtaking victories. Suprised it handled the step back to 1000m latest win and now steps up to 1400m first time this prep. Has won twice over the 1400m and definitely will be fit enough. Very strong opposition expected from Inspirational Girl who has a brilliant record of 5 starts for 4 wins and 1 2nd. Banking on the race fitness edge giving us a chance for the minor upset. If you like saving on a runner then she is the obvious.

Best Value Belmont r8 Mervyn ; Races best when allowed to bully it’s way to the front and try and run them into the ground. Is fighting out of it’s weight division here but has red hot Yuill in the saddle who is a great front running jockey. Hoping it can establish a big lead and at least hang on for a place at juicy odds.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Pinjarra r5 Great Heist; Won a trial in really slick time , beating Misty Metal. That horse opened favourite in Saturday’s Beaufine Stakes , run at listed level. Yes it’s only trial form but $3.20 in a provincial c1 could turn out to be a great heist! Sea Waif looks the clear danger. Gets 4kg after the claim and most likely leads. That can be advantageous at Pinjarra and local trainer Pope’s horses grow a leg here. Good Quinella.

Best Value Pinjarra r4 Superlove; Showed glimpses in debut campaign , running places albeit at Narrogin . The form of those maidens easily stacks up here and won a trial in preparation for this, albeit ridden out to do so. If she has improved during her spell then she can run a cheeky race around the $10 each way mark.

Pinjarra r2 Tunis ; Had shown absolutely nothing in first 4 starts until making up a stack of ground late over 1600m. Stable breeds stayers and this one looks like it would run 4000m! Suprised it took this long to get out to a trip but confident it gets it. Will get a long way back off the draw.

Pinjarra r9 Rewrite The Stars ; With placings behind Showmanship & Bright Diamond its not hard to find here. Although margin wasn’t big last time, it still had to overcome difficulty in running to score. Down in weight and perfectly drawn for the harder assignment.

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Belmont r7 Hoolahoops; Well bred filly who is putting it all together this prep. Both trainer and jockey are on fire . There are other chances but I feel her form is from slightly better races , even though they were maidens.

Belmont r1 Quinella 1 & 2 ; La Vina looks extremely well placed in a 3yo mid weeker. Beat the Bro however beat a smart one first up and is well related. I would rather take the obvious quinella then odds on about the fav.

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r3 Miss Maranta; Brings superior metro/provincial form to the region first time. Small field suits it’s racing pattern of getting back and swooping hard late. Any rail bias would be a serious concern.

Kalgoorlie r7 Amillionite; I am usually against this horse and for good reason with only 1 win from 20 starts. Last start was a good effort and I’m tipping Yuill getting on can improve her again. Each Way.

Weekend Winners

Best Bet Belmont r7 Indian Pacific; Holding Windstorm at bay is as strong as recent WA form gets. Third that day has also won impressively in top 3yo company since. Has only been beaten once in 5 starts . Bounces straight to the front and very hard to see him getting run down here.

Best Value Belmont r10 Fred Dag ; If Showmanship is a legitimate $1.20 pop in r4 (hard to argue against) , then the horse that finished off hard behind him last start looks crazy value at $9.50 each way in an easier race. $2.50 a place a much better bet vs Serenity Bay $1.70 win Excellent track and distance stats back this up.

Thursday Tips

Best Bet Northam r7 Amelia Bedelia ; Beaten under a length first up in a much stronger race. The market loves The Singing Tiger . Jumping from a narrow maiden victory to a c3 is a big ask. I have tipped Alexis Olympia numerous times this prep at big prices, racing wayward and finishing at the rear every time. Missed its last start win, still crying about that one but this is much harder.

Northam r6 Pearls From Heaven ; Ready to win a weak staying race and this is most suitable.

Northam r8 Speedy Miss ; Won this track and distance last start in a canter. Pike sticks and this is no harder yet somehow it’s paying better odds. Very wary Pearls and Prawns who is very talented if ready. Stormy Ruler has lengths to make up on the fav but might settle in front of her this time from the good gate.

Northam Quaddie ; (r5-8); field, 6, 5, 1 2 . $28 for 100%

Wednesday Winners

Best Bet Belmont r7 Mirror Moon ; Might not of beat much first up but it was the way it did it that caught the eye. Repeats that effort and it will win better races than this. Inside barrier doesn’t really suit it’s get back and run on pattern but if your going to pay Pike tax on your bet then you have to trust him to find a way.

Belmont r6 Roses Are Red ; Put them away easily at Northam on debut. Northam form doesn’t always stack up here but it was wet that day at least. Should get to the outside and finish off hard and there is a lot of speed in this to facilitate that pattern.

Belmont Quaddie (r5-8) ; 2 3 , 1 9 10 , 5 9 18 , 7 8 13 . $54 for 100%

Sunday Prayers

Best Bet Kalgoorlie r3 Galahs Do Roar; Basing this tip on her first up run at the track and distance first time. She ran on well out wide to just miss. Returned to the provincials 2nd up and raced with little luck but wasn’t beaten far. The fav Revel has to give her 5.5kgs and steps up to 1300m first time .

Kalgoorlie r4 Magic Will Reign; Really caught the eye late last start , rushing home from well back in a similar field. Pateman going on a big plus for a horse that seems to need strong encouragement to produce his best.
